can a team who forever hoof balls it up the pitch be near the top of the division it really is embarrasing. they just plonk a couple of tall guys in the team and cross the ball in as much as possible. i give credit to them for working hard and being organised but it does show how bad the league is if they are third in the division. next season with the current team under hill with bennet back in the side hopefully we will quite easily be up in the playoffs!

credit to cavanagh for completely turning his game round since hill, his passing is much better and last two games hes been very good at interceptions and getting stuck in - you need the warriors in your side like him

Cavanagh has been great recently - hope we can keep him for his experience and influence on the younger players. Definitely my MOM today.

Did you actually expect free flowing, on the deck football on a pitch in that condition?

Got two big strikers who are good at getting on the end of crosses, and 4 players in the midfield capable of swinging or floating a ball in.

Not the prettiest, but effective. You don't have to play pretty football to win games, and if anything, that approach will stand them in good stead in the lower reaches of League One, when they are in more of a relegation battle.

Tangled up in blue.

guessing your a vale fan, the pitch was in exact same condition on wednesday night and the football dale played was brilliant.. i just think theres a difference in trying to play football and on the odd occasion hoofing... but from witnessing today it was pure hoof ball to tom pope and murderer

doha, you're in a "no win" situation here - a bit like the game really!

However, the quality of football the Dale produced when we won promotion three years ago was so far superior to what Vale seem capable of, and it's just disappointing to see how far standards have fallen.

But you also failed to beat us on your own bowling green.

Well done on your impending promotion but stop making so many excuses for playing shit.
