First half was one of the worst performances I've ever seen from a Dale side. Absolutely woeful, every single player bar Lillis possibly.

Second half was much better because we finally had some energy and mobility up front in Donnelly who changed the game but too much damage had been done in the first half to complete a comeback.

Strongly disagree with those that booed the substitution of Kennedy. Coleman went attacking and took a midfielder off to bring Grimes on and because it wasn't automatically Cavanagh who went off, dummy's were spat. I wouldn't have taken JK off but to boo it wasn't on in my view. Personally. I thought Tutte was our worst midfielder today.

Very poor overall, didn't understand why we reverted back to the 4-1-2-2-1 formation from 4-4-2 which worked in our last home game and we paid for that I think.

Shite.

If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor

I don't think that Lillis' displays are giving much encourage to rest of the side right now, there were numerous occasions today when he got his decision making wrong.

All in all a terrible day at the office despite Bennett's goal.

Looking at the highlights he seemed to pull his hand away to leave the ball for their second.

We had two players to their one to clear for the first.

Time for a change........Phil Edwards in goals next week?

Everything thats been, has past. The answers in the looking glass!

For me we lost yesterday primarily because we were outplayed in the first half by a far better side who were well organised, confident and could pass a ball, so credit to the opposition.

Few points though

1. Why Coleman persists with this awful 4-5-1 at home I'll never know. Teams must be laughing at us when they realise the formation we play. Especially with Adebola upfront who I haven't seen break into a sprint in the time he's been here.
At least Donnelly puts a shift in albeit he's no world beater.

2. Still think Edwards at CB is a liability. He reminds me of a young Gareth Griffiths.
Good in the air but has zero composure on the ball and can't do anything but lump it. This is even more frustrating when we have the promising and far better Matt Byrne warming the bench in my opinion.

3. Cavanagh... He's simply not good enough. Not for a team wanting promotion anyway. Has no vision, no skill.. Granted he works hard but that's not enough.

Feel sorry for Lillis. Goalies are judged on saves/mistakes but the bottom line is, if we defend well then he shouldn't even have a lot to do. I think a lot of his mistakes come because he's unsure of his defence.

4-4-2 has to be the way forward at home. I think Coleman is a good manager but his pure stubbornness to change things may cost us a play off place the way were going.

Yes people did stop going when we were crap, when there were about 1200 regular fans and even then it wasn't as bad then as the first half today. But Its not necessarily about the final result if you feel the team have played their hearts out.
What people are becoming disillusioned with is the lack of taking responsibility, the sheer un-professionalism of so many players in the team. The stupid free kicks given away, the poor corners that don't beat the 1st man, the passes that find an opponent more often than our own players. The useless punts to a centre forward who is little more than a pedestrian, the schoolboy offsides, the pathetic claims for fouls that will never be given, the lack of pace, the paucity of ideas, the pointing at everyone else when it goes wrong. No width, no winger, no schemer, no leader at the back. not a single player worth crossing the road to watch. And the worst of it is that after a win against Bristol why didn't Coleman persevere with a wider system? Answers on a postcard to The Chairman, RAFC, C/O Spotland Stadium.

I've just clicked the "thumbs up" thingy to your post 49th, but on reflection, it deserves more than that, so people can read it again.

For me, the perfect summary of where we are.

Poll: What are you planning to do v Newport

next week Exeter arrive...like so many teams their away record is better than their home record with 6 away wins and one draw...we need to take control of the game from the first minute be much more offensive rather than letting the opposition settle in and dominate as both york and morecambe have recently...this is a poor league and Dale will never have a better chance of punching above their weight and getting a play off spot.
In the team i dont see any one capable of playing at a higher level..we look like a mid table workmanlike league 2 team and no more than that

This is what we have to look forward to with JC in charge, Accy were pretty much where we are now with him at the helm. Forget the football we played under Hillcroft, we will never see the like again, this is why fans are voting with their feet. He will keep us safe from relegation, the football will not be good to watch and we will scrape some results to keep us hovering mid table or just below the play off places. Nothing more than that can be expected and anything more will be a massive bonus...

Poll: Hill in or out? 2nd referendum.....

Matt Byrne?

If you mean Neill Byrne, he's been sent out on loan to Barrow.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

But we're back to consistency of opinion.

Did similarly long serving fans stop going under all our other managers who've not done well?

Did fans decide they weren't going again after Coleman found a different way of playing v Bristol Rovers?

(and yes, we were bloody poor today. For which Coleman should take a lot of he blame)

Sadly the Hill years proved we don't have to put up with crap week on week ; in the past new managers did little to break the pattern of mediocrity . Unfortunately , in less than than 2 years poor decision making has totally squandered the benefits of 5 years genuine growth and increased revenue from higher status and better fixtures . To ask people now to continue paying the price of the football on offer having experienced the previous 5 years is not good business sense . I think that is why people are now turning away .

Other clubs are employing young froward thinking managers who have served their apprenticeship in the professional game . We have employed over the past two years someone who never played the the game professionaly , and who never experienced life outside the cossetted world of the Premiership , and then someone who is at the stage these days of being of pensionable age as a league manager, and who only ever experienced life at one quite unique league club . If we wanted to be Accrington Stanley , great , but surely we should have been aiming higher ?

Hence my argument of bad decisions , and the squandering of a real legacy .
