Set to start in goal for Scotland tonight vs Luxembourg.

Two ex-daleys in the team tonight, based on the standard of Scottish Football they must have been from the Paul Simpson era.

I was thinking about this the other day and does anyone really think Gilks regards himself a scotsman? Born in England, English parents, lived in England all his life and played all his football for English clubs. For a supposed 'English hating' nation this cant sit comfortably with the Scottish fans.

Its a BRILLIANT goal to cap a BRILLIANT start by Rochdale - Don Goodman 26/08/10

Apparently he enjoys shortbread.

The very last time I saw Matt Gilks before he left Rochdale was shopping with his mum in Asda's.

He was shopping for holiday swimming trunks.

He bought a pair which were red and white with a St George's Cross on.

All of the above is true. I think it answers your question.

You said all of your story were true.

When I am holding the tap room spellbound when I regale them with your story, I need to know that I'm being honest, and am not some bullshitting name-dropper desperate for an audience.

Tap room version.

The very last time I saw Matt Gilks in the flesh in Asda's Rochdale before he left Rochdale was shopping with his mum (or somebody who I took to be his mum, she was female, older than him, a relative and he was heeding her advice, it may have been his gran) in Asda's Rochdale. I have since seen him on Television playing for both Scotland and Blackpool.

He was shopping for swimming trunks, possibly but not definitely for a holiday and possibly other items, I only saw him in the clothing section which is to the right and is often but not always the first section people visit when shopping. I cannot verify therefore whether he was shopping for anything other than trunks as this was the only thing I saw him pick up, inspect and put into his basket. Equally, I cannot verify whether he actually purchased the trunks or deposited them amongst the frozen fish as he continued shopping and decided against them.

He picked up, inspected and placed in his shopping basket a pair which were red and white with a St George's Cross on.

All of the above is true. I think it answers your question.

He was still 'English' back then so it was ok. Although the night Plymouth won the league at Spotland in 02 I had an inkling he was a Scottish keeper.

Clearly made up...

"I have since seen him on Television playing for both Scotland and Blackpool."

Nobody has ever bothered to watch Scotland on tv. Unless it was an episode of Taggart - Shorts in the Frozen Fish Section Mystery three-parter.

If he'd been patient he would have made the England side after James, Green and Hart successfully fluff it on the big stage!
