First half table 17:32 - Jan 25 with 1526 viewsandrew

We are 3rd on first half table.

Players clearly unfit, or teams sus is out.

Poll: Can’t see the new guy coming in to sit on the bench so, who’s off?

Yeah I probably wasn’t that clear.

We certainly should be judging him as a central midfielder. I think to prepare him for that, he should have had a season playing there at a lower level, with and against players who may not have his quality, but play much quicker and more aggressively than he’s used to.

I can actually see the logic in playing him wide, as he has more time and space there. If he’d looked like a CDM being played out of position, he may have had a crack, but he just looked like he couldn’t deal with the pace and intensity of the game.

To be fair, he usually had 10 minutes or so. I don’t think that’s enough to give him a fair chance to get to grips with it.

And that is where we disagree, as I said a good CDM could easily be a crap winger. Would Grimes thrive on the wing? They are very different roles.

Of course they are but a good CDM would display fundamental football skills on the wing and a good winger would do the same in midfield.

He wasn’t doing that. I’m not suggesting he should have been an effective winger.

Grimes would do a lot better there than Abdulai. He’d be in the right position, he’d weight his passes better, he’d anticipate play and he’d know where teammates and opponents were.

He actually did ok at fullback under Potter.

Slot was saying after the Liverpool game today, he enjoys goals and clean sheets, but what gives him great pleasure is work rate.

We are just so slow, we really need an injection of pace and play at a higher tempo

It’s difficult to turn that style on on match day when you don’t train footprints it though.

If as we are led to believe his training sessions are one dimensional then changing it on match day would be so disjointed wed be all over the place. Yes, I know😁

Unfit is the key observation. We are piss weak , slow and fall off a Cliff towards the end of games.
