I will leave mine as William Sitwell and I agree.

Strangely enough, I was thinking of mentioning Bouchon de Rossi as my nomination for the worst of the more up-scale restaurants in Swansea. On my only visit, the bill for myself and wife came well into three figures, but the food was mediocre with one course near inedible. Of the others, I think Hanson's at the Chelsea is good (except for the name), and Slice in Eversley Road, Sketty may be right up there if you can handle the prices, the booking backlog and the small portions. My favorites, taking account of the balance between quality and value, are Truffle in King Edward's Road and Gilligans in Sketty. If you like Thai food then Thai Bach in Bryn-y-mor Road is very good. Restaurants that others say are good but I haven't tried are the Pant-y-Gwydr and Barnabys in Eversley Road.

As I said, it’s been 15 years plus since I last visited BDR so it may not be as good but when I used to go there the food was second to none.
Been to Hanson’s for lunch a couple of times and reasonably impressed. Nice setting and food good. Set menu.
Must try Thai Bach some time.

Terre a Terre Brighton. It's a veggie restaurant and I'm not a veggie. It's incredible.

A few visits with one poor experience, would have complained when the bill turned up but they recognised the issue before the bill arrived and took 50% off and gave us a bottle of wine to take away.

Brighton is a great place. I'd move there if I could afford it.

Spend a lot of time there.

Afternoon beers and snacking in the foodie places is a joy.

Some of the best….Beach House Oxwich Bay. Stupidly expensive but the food was something else. As there’s a Florida theme mentioned by some got to say Narcoossee’s in Grand Floridian Lake Buenavista was something else.
Locally The George’s and Aubrey Arms Ystradgynlais are superb. Couldn’t walk coming out of there!
We’ve been fortunate in not coming across many bad restaurants where the food was dubious….but a few where the service could have been better.

"Stone crab" Saundersfoot, absolutely fantastic if you can get a table.

Definitely agree there. Love the place.

My next door neighbour moved to Swansea from Brighton. Whole family upped and relocated. Took out a three year lease without even seeing the place in person. It's horrendously expensive to live there.

On the main subject, I tend to find service much of a muchness in most places. Service staff are generally decent, facing the same issues as anyone else who deals with the public has to.

The young waitress in Las Iguanas who served me and Mrs Winston (and fourteen other members of my family) on Tuesday deserves a mention though. She was excellent.

Went to a great Mexican restaurant there when we played them in the final season of the PL. Great place as you say.

Going back to local restaurants, I was thinking of Whiterockin's point that a nice view can be a plus. I don't rate the food in the Grape and Olive (although it is supposed to be getting a revamp) and was wondering what the main contenders for good view might be. Of the restaurants I know, the Langland Brasserie can be very appealing on a summer evening, and then there are Verdi's and Castellamare/Lighthouse in Mumbles, which however don't have menus that appeal greatly to me. I haven't been to the Beach House in Oxwich (Michelin star and prices to match), but imagine that may have a view. Any nominations?

I don't know if you can eat outside at the Worms Head Hotel but if you can I suspect that would be a clear winner locally.

I have been to a small cafe that serves some food in that same line of buildings, and they had a garden with picnic tables and a good view of Rhossili Bay. I guess the hotel might have something similar, but I have never heard anybody comment on the food there.

I’m by no means someone who eats out regularly, but off the top of my head one of the nicest meals I’ve had was at the Santa Fe Steak House in Davenport Orlando, great food and great service.

The worst, well I’ve had a few shunky curry’s over the years but there’s 2 that stand out. The first was a family get together at Tay Barns, the second is going right back in to the mists of time when wifey and I went to the Whitehart in Llanddarog, poor meal and rude staff.

First and only visit to The White Hart Inn some time ago was on the advice of some colleagues who sang the praises of the place .

Called in after a visit to Carmarthen and as soon as we walked into the place the atmosphere hit us as being unwelcome things from another planet .

The staff obviously looked after their regulars with far more care than ourselves , even their meals were being served way before us and arriving after us . After 45 mins of waiting for our food I asked what is the delay in our service , excuses followed but no explanation .

Never been back and never will .

It used to be excellent but has gone down hill. I was there in may/ June time and left disappointed.

The Butchers around the corner had a great reputation and was the go to place for a long time, but I’ve not been there recently so can’t comment. The Red Lion in Llandyfaelog is a tidy place if you’re in the Kidwelly or Ferryside areas.

The red lion is quality.

New curiosity carmarthen also excellent.

Y Barbican carmarthen getting good reviews also (haven't been as yet though).

But I'll stand by my earlier comment, the shed sa1 best meal I've had for a long time.

I’ve been to the New Curiosity a number of times and it’s very good, but I’ve not even heard of Y Barbican, but I’ve checked it out on FB and it looks tidy. Thanks for the heads up.
