I think you'll find they are now known as "Batters" like what fish gets fried in! Anyway a dock ball is surely better than getting court out.

Oh yes, I've seen the "batters" word used, but they'll always be batsmen in the form I watch.

Saw a report on the demands on hospital from COVID on BBC news the other day where they interviewed a male nurse and referred to him as a ward sister. Say no more.
T' T20 & th'Ashes on 07:20 - Jan 8 with 2457 views | D_Alien | Excellent day's play (didn't watch all of it) Great innings again from Khawaja but England stuck at it and saw it through, competitive at last Impressed with Pope's keeping too, i'd be tempted to stick with him for the final test on that showing

All becomes clear Good of you to lend them to Leach. 40 balls to survive as I type

Managed to hold on for the draw and avoid the whitewash. Probably gives us a slight confidence boost, but only because of a day lost to rain & 2 declarations by the Aussies Great 2 hours of entertainment
T' T20 & th'Ashes on 08:50 - Jan 9 with 2230 views | isitme | At least they showed a bit of fight and bar Wood they all ate up balls. Credit to Stokes, Bairstow and Buttler who batted with injuries. Crawley showed that he has potential to be a quick scoring opener. In the medium term the top six is a mess and anyone's guess as who should fill it. Root and Stokes at four and five and maybe Crawley to open but then you are looking for three others including another opener and a three where I am not sure there are lots of options. At six Bairstow looked good this game and Pope has potential but need to deliver. Surely it is now time for Foakes to keep. I would give him a the home tests next summer. This brings me on to the elephant in the room - the bowlers. Is it time to move on from Broad and Anderson? Robinson has taken to test cricket well and reminds me of Angus Fraser. Not quick but accurate with a decent bit of bounce. Wood is okay but cannot be relied upon to play consistently. Behind them who? Woakes is good in English conditions and can bat but who are the two/three seamers to take the next step? Stone's back has gone again and there is talk of him only playing white ball cricket. The selectors need to identify some variety Mahmood and Carse would offer pace but they need exposure. Curran is a good left hand option but is really a fourth seamer. The spin bowling cupboard is even more bare. If Bess could develop some consistency he could do a job and bat at eight. Parkinson has potential but hasn't played that much red ball cricket. Answers on a postcard. We do not have a very good team and the existing set up is not conducive to developing test match players.

T' T20 & th'Ashes on 09:31 - Jan 9 with 2212 views | EllDale | The ECB needs to recognise that, whilst The Hundred boosts the games coffers, so do sellout test matches. Ask Yorkshire about the financial consequences of having one taken off you. If people become disenchanted with international white ball cricket then the whole game suffers.

Back in the day, you'd be going into the First Test after 3 or 4 tour games. That's where we are now

All things considered, 241-6 isn't a bad outcome after putting a side in Did we "let them off the hook"? I'd see it more as a spirited Aussie fightback, and once again an entertaining day of test cricket - in more ways than one!

They decided not to listen to you !!! Another pathetic performance that takes away what little confidence we took from the 4th test. A stupid run out to start the debacle at a time where we had good conditions and almost 4 days left. No need to go for a "1-day" run in the second over. Last 3 wickets lost for 8 runs now have about 20 overs under the lights & probably need at least 3 wickets Unless we get 300 in the next innings it will be only the 5th time in test history that we haven't made 300 in a 5 match series. We've only made 200 3 times Edit: Warner our third ball to get a pair - we're on our way !! [Post edited 15 Jan 2022 10:10]

I'd forgotten we did it twice in the last game!! Decent start this morning, but they are 174 ahead with 5 wickets left. Apparently the pitch is decent, & a small chance if chasing less than 220. We need Smith out quickly If whoever faces the first ball for England gets a duck, it will be the first time in test history that all 4 players facing the first ball of an innings have done so. If it's Burns there is every chance [Post edited 16 Jan 2022 4:11]
