Swansea City v Peterborough United : Matchday Thread 2021/22 AFTERMATH 23:09 - Oct 24 with 21342 views | NotLoyal | The beautiful land of Peterborough, caught up in the Soke of Northampton, this antique replica of something yet to be discovered, in original terms, a town, in every day terms a dodgy toe nail hanging on to the cleft pallet of a donkeys bum. Oh, it’s what we do on here, it’s our way of welcoming our opponents. The Posh Although the present club did not come into being until 1934, the 'Posh' name first came to the fore a decade earlier, almost certainly stemming from Pat Tirrel, player manager of Fletton United, a previous user of the present club's London Road ground, who announced in close season of 1921 that he was looking for 'Posh players for a Posh team' to compete in the Northamptonshire League (later the United Counties League). Fletton, previously known as the 'Brickies,' re-formed as Peterborough and Fletton United in 1923 and both nicknames were in use through the 1920s, although supporters complained that 'Posh' references were sometimes used by newspapers in a derisory manner. Peterborough and Fletton United folded in 1932, the present club was formed two years later and a Midland League debut against Gainsborough Trinity on 1st September 1934 was greeted with cries of 'Up The Posh' from the crowd. Did you know ? Victoria ( my heads in my arse) Beckham challenged Peterborough United registering their club nickname as a trademark in 1998 ? It obviously didn’t work as they are still called The Posh today, and she is a washed up old deckchair. Celebrity gimp, VIctoria Beckham who thinks she is bigger than a whole community The Posh Peterborough United are a small club that do cock waving splendidly well. They will see this game as a cup final against the divisions ‘pass masters’ After many seasons in the Premier League the swans have been targets for teams to play above themselves when they visit Wales. Such is the way clubs hold Swansea in high esteem. If it wasn’t for that the swans would have won all their games. They are favourites to win this game for sure. The people of Peterborough land are called gimps, and the town itself is recognised as one of the worst town's to live in. Voted by the very people who live there. Peterborough is actually in Canada. https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/swanseacity/news/56110/lee-trundle-scores https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/swanseacity/news/56115/darren-ferguson-be https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/swanseacity/news/56120/russell-martin-set https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/swanseacity/news/56129 https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/swanseacity/news/56131/swansea-city-are-o More to Follow

It was a great tackle. Then the lino allowing the game to play on when one of theirs was 2 yeds offside. Poor officiating but not too bad on the whole.

Shame we couldn't get another goal or two, good win and a decent performance, shame Morgan's shot was deflected if it had gone in it would have given him a massive lift, did well with the ball he had though fair play to him. Only disappointment, was that lot up the Rd, coming back from 3 down. [Post edited 30 Oct 2021 17:07]

Maybe we can play that style against the weaker teams? An interesting development that’s for sure and it’s always good to have options and become less predictable if we can be effective with that when we don’t really have an attacking threat against us. Congrats to Martin and the players on a thoroughly deserved win. More of the same now, we know the standards we can play to. No reason to scrap this season with this ‘transition season’ stuff. We are good enough.

Two things that stood out today was Bennett becoming more comfortable in the system and how fitter the players are looking. Going in the right direction for sure.

Key word is "disciplined". We could have gone helter skelter in chase of a fourth or fifth, but with two tricky away games to come we were smarter than that. We effectively turned it into a training session. Controlled possession, controlled the game and made Peterborough do all the chasing. Probed for weaknesses but took no risks in doing so. Obafemi was unlucky not to notch at least one. Good stuff.

Yeah as much as we’d all like a six or seven nil there’s no point expending energy we don’t need to. We lost to Birmingham primarily because we were knackered.

Yep. "Resting with the ball" Rodgers used to call it. Game was effectively over by half time. If they'd got one back we still had plenty of gas in the tank to go up a gear or two but what would have been the point otherwise? With two tricky away games to come it was the smart thing to do. It's also good to note that we changed our attacking emphasis to suit the opposition. Against WBA's high press we tried to break the offside trap a lot. Today we'd clearly targeted their right hand side (hence Bidwell's return) and that paid off in spades. It's tactical versatility we haven't seen for a long time.

One missed tackle in the first half which didn't come to anything anyway, but otherwise flawless. The best footballer in our back line by far, and hugely important to what we're trying to do.

He’s so suited to that role, it’s like he’s playing like an old fashioned ‘sweeper’ tidies everything up at the back. Looks so comfortable on the ball.

This, but to which I'll add, this is still a transition season. We can't expect this every week because we won't play Peterborough every week. They came here and tried to play the same style as us but we were much better at it. We started the game well, got a good lead and then managed the rest of the game very well. Apart from one or two moments and a very good save by Hamer, they didn't trouble us. We won't have as easy a ride as that every week and Coventry Tuesday will be a different prospect entirely. Anybody who is now saying we are definitely good enough is jumping the gun but we are still improving and we are definitely getting there. Now we have to add the consistency. It was great to see so many people leaving the stadium with big smiles.
