So near yet so far! 18:31 - May 5 with 1739 viewsThaiHoop

You know, looking at the league table it's infuriating that we lost games against 8 of the bottom 10 and but for a 96th minute goal at Sheffield Wednesday it'd have been 9. And we gave Wycombe a point too.

I know it's all ifs and buts, but given that we're basically 4 wins off the play offs it just shows how close we are to being able to challenge.

If what they said on the podcast about FFP not being a thing next season surely the board should do what it takes to keep this squad (including loanees) together and if they do we can mount a real challenge?

I really do think this is a pivotal summer for us!

I’m pretty sure we also won or drew games that we possibly didn’t deserve to,so it’s swings and roundabouts really.
It’s more of a shame that the majority of us couldn’t make it to any games to witness some of the good results.

You'll feel better about the situation if you recall our position before the winter transfer window.

If anyone had then predicted we'd finish in the Top Ten by the end of the season, I guarantee you the conversation would have ended with that person putting on a straitjacket and spending some time in a room with bouncy walls.

We have all thoroughly enjoyed the second half of the season, but were never going to put ourselves in a position to challenge for a play off spot. Our objective at. Christmas was to stay up, and we delivered on that very comfortably.

12 points isn't close at all, it's actually a pretty big gap.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Thank god we'll not be promoted this year. We'd be torn apart in the prem week after week.
We're no where near ready yet, although the parachute payments would be nice.

But how shit is modern football when we celebrate parachute payments like a trophy

Don't get me wrong, I'm not upset at how we've done. I thought we had every chance of going down so extremely happy with the situation!

Just think looking forward that if we keep this squad we have the potential to improve on this year's points tally and could maybe pick up half a dozen more wins.

Definitely supposed to be a glass half full post, maybe could have been worded better! 😳

doing what it takes to keep these players could well mean breaking the wage structure they have worked so hard on over the last few years and putting the club at risk losing even more money than we currently are.

I'd love all 4 players to stay but if we can't afford them we have to look elsewhere
