At half-time in tonight's replay that will decide Dale's FA Cup opponents, Stockport lead 2-0. A pity in a way as Dale would probably have stood a better chance of beating Chesterfield. Still, whichever side it is, the winners will face a big challenge to prepare for Saturday.

If I was a neutral, I'd be well happy with my £10 spent after that first half alone. Sadly, I'm not and am left scratching my head at another sloppy start from us.
Stockport were absolutely up for it from the first whistle. Pressing our defence into corners and mistakes. Moving the ball swiftly and accurately into dangerous positions. Granted, their opener was a bit of a freak, as well executed as it was, but it was certainly deserved.
As we started to play and get the ball wide, they switched shape to counter that and stopped pressing our defence. This allowed O'Connell to come forward a lot more, but we haven't really done anything with the ball in their box since Lund pulled one back. Lots of going back and trying again up the other side, but not really making their keeper work too hard and he's claiming anything we do get in there.
We need to come out this half at full pelt, as they did to us, and find some kind of cutting edge.
After their second we've started to look much brighter created a few chances. Hopefully we can get the equaliser and really put the pressure on. The risk is if we get hit on the counter at the moment.
Very rapid start by County, but towards the end of the half they started to look a bit leggy, and their game on Wednesday has got to take it's toll at some point
The question is, will we be able to exploit that if it happens? Far too many poor passes and mis-controls again. Morley for their first, and however well it was struck, Bazunu might've shown at bit more urgency instead of watching it for too long
O'Connell's forays into midfield might prompt Roberts onto the field at some point. Overall, we look disjointed, players being swapped around and without Lund's efforts, no real goal threat so far
Much better after Lund's goal but we don't look to have too much cutting edge up front. I would like to see Newby isolated wide against their defence a bit more as he looks dangerous and his delivery is usually good. Their first was Beckhamesqe.

Or a bit further back than Ashley Williams...
When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

For me, their first goal was something spectacular out of nothing and the second fell kindly for them. A deserved lead though as they came out looking much more up for it.
We’ve grown into the game since then. Lund continues to carry the team goals wise with Newby the main creative force. Stockport have been given O’Connell far too much space to carry the ball down the middle too, which has also provided a few openings.
Feel we can still win this but Stockport look dangerous on the counter, aided by our sloppy passing and lack of bite in the tackle at times.
Would like to see Roberts on for McNulty to give us a bit more protection at the back with O’Connell venturing forward.

Why did Roberts not start....he's the best defender at the Club? Bizarre.

Stockport defending in numbers making it very compact and difficult to get a second goal. Think it's going to take a moment of real quality as we're not moving the ball quick enough at the moment.
This is shocking, side to side and backwards all the time. We couldn't penetrate a wet paper bag. we are too slow and predictable going forward to the halfway line. We will end up the laughing stock again. Stockport are taking the mick . we are rubbish. Something needs to change if we want to stay in the cup
Up The Dale!!

Not sure he was directly responsible for either of the goals, to be fair.
Lack of creativity and goal threat the bigger issue.
I’m not blaming him for the goals. He’s given the ball away a ridiculous amount of times. This is the first time we’ve looked as bad as we did last season. One of our biggest attacking threats & getting play moving in recent weeks has been directly from Roberts. The decision to leave him out today has completely screwed up our game. This has been shocking.

Oh it’s not been good. But I don’t think Jim’s performance has been worse than any of the others, save for two or three (Lund, Newby, O’Connell).

Like I said. You can’t underestimate the importance Roberts makes to the team. That was a diabolical performance and I hope BBM comes out and says as much.
