Saints up for sale on 07:09 - Mar 8 with 3890 views | Occasional_Showers | Good news, but it’s not going to be an easy sale. The fundamental issue of Liebherr holding a 1/5 share remains. It was this stumbling block that led to us being restricted to a dodgy Chinese partial takeover last time. A move the FA were against and one which saw them change the rules in an attempt to prevent a repeat. I suspect Goa is going to have to take a loss to find a get out, I suspect Liebherr will be the buyer and that she planned for this all along.

Saints up for sale on 07:53 - Mar 8 with 3798 views | Gennaro_Contaldo | Thank god for that. Gao was always a fraud just looking to get money out of China, he was never interested in Saints. "Self-sustaining", what a load of bollocks. The big question mark to me is still the dodgy sponsorship deal.

Saints up for sale on 08:37 - Mar 8 with 3688 views | this_charming_man | Can’t see this being easy. Far better value to be had buying a championship of even league one club than spending £250m on a struggling premier league club with a ridiculously high wage bill. So much for our brilliant self sustainable model and our chairman who is it in for the long haul wanting to retire to the area. What an absolute disaster Goa has been, comfortably the worst owner in the league and clearly never here to take us on as a club.

And then how much will Kat demand for her share? With talk of a possible world recession to follow as a result of China's latest export, there won't be too many rushing in to spunk £millions on middling football clubs. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Saints up for sale on 09:06 - Mar 8 with 3592 views | DorsetIan | Interesting to see whether he strips any money out before he sells. It’s a nice way to get the price down for the purchaser, while leaving the seller with the same money. Don’t know what a fair price would be for Saints, but Saints should be a good buy for someone. Premier league, own ground, decent crowds, a good manager. Trouble with Lg1 and Champ teams, is that you don’t get the big money until the Prem and those leagues are so difficult to get out off. Gao has definitely been a disaster. Good riddance.

If only we had fans like Liverpool this would never have come to the surface. If the stadium was packed every week and we had flags to wave organised by supporter groups then Gao would have invested more money in the team. I mean the scousers never have any money to spend on players but they seem to do ok. Please can we find a buyer who genuinely wants this club to progress and possibly win things then perhaps we could keep up with the likes of Leicester and Wolves , (those two giants of football). Thank you. [Post edited 8 Mar 2020 9:24]

It does make me laugh the strap line nick has attached to Goa “not the best chairman in the premier league but not the worst either” like we should Be grateful for this And what has he done wrong? How about what has he done right? Or just what has he done? Because all I can see is he’s done very little. [Post edited 8 Mar 2020 9:27]

He’s introduced a sustainable business model and he’s made the edge of the pitch at St Mary‘s very very red.

Saints up for sale on 09:28 - Mar 8 with 3498 views | Capt_Koons | It's good news that Gao may be leaving, but its always a leap into the unknown with a new owner. Russian Oligarch, Israeli gun runner, South American drug peddler, Asian porn king, take your pick. Whoever it is they will will almost certainly have a murky past.

It will blame the fans The negativity on social media The fact he hasn’t changed anything and running it the same way Marcus did Be careful what you wish for Goa isn’t the best but not the worst Well run club Not one word of criticism for anyone at the club

The report has added that the profit made by the Saints during the 2018-19 season will be "considerably less healthy" than the £28.6 million profit the club declared last March. Hmmm where has the money gone

It will be interesting to see if Nick backs our new overlords as unconditionally as he did Gao and Co or whether he did just have a particular affinity for the current regime for some reason. Hard to work out if his default position is now just to take to opposite view to the majority of fans out of resentment for not backing him with the Cortese stuff, or whether he was bought or duped. That may be a bit blunt but I find it ridiculous how the admin of a Saints site can be so anti-Saints fans.
Saints up for sale on 10:28 - Mar 8 with 3290 views | A1079 | I suppose there is never a good time to do these things, but I am pretty sure that this will not be a quick process and I am not convinced (with my limited knowledge of potential suitors) there are a host of people out there, in the current climate who would want to purchase. Gao was a bad choice and for that, we have Kat Liebherr and those that represented her in the process to blame. Whilst some may say he has done nothing wrong, he has equally done nothing to even maintain equilibrium let alone take us forward in any shape or form. During his stewardship it has been a club that has felt under turmoil and steady decline. The much lauded Southampton Way became a strapline for ridicule than any up and coming brand. A club that at all levels has felt messy, even down to the kit fiasco, season ticket delay and then membership delays with little or no communication. Poor appointments at both management and player levels. So, I for one, will not be sorry to see the Gao reign come to an end, but it does not mean that we will get anything better, because that assumes that there is anything better out there willing to take us on - who knows? But, this will impact on our close season and next season even before it starts. Any player worth his salt whether at Saints or may have thought of coming to Saints will not want to stay or join a club in a state of flux. Most people like economic markets like a degree of certainty - this process does not offer certainty until it is completed and even then people will want to wait and see. Wouldn't it be nice to have a season, a close season without what seems the endless uncertainty?
