Nervous first 5 minutes but he did fine after that I thought. Knew when to put his foot through it when we were on the ropes.

Indeed poor management has not allowed these players to be eased into the 1st team correctly

The lad done well.

There are premier league players and players who play in the premier league.

Well done Connor, make sure you’re in the former.

Expectations of the lad should not be high. He needs to be given the time to learn and dare I say make a mistake or two. The important point is that he then learns. Then once he’s established himself can the expectations rise.

Great to see a local boy make it to the first team squad and make his Premier League debut, let’s hope there are more to follow.

Give him a run and then appearances from the bench.

I think I'd genuinely prefer to watch us at a lower level but play with local talent like (I think) bilbao do in Spain?

Bilbao used to have a sort of unwritten rule that all their players were Basque or had been at a Basque club as a youngster.
Don't know if they still do.

Us just getting players from Wales, will IMHO, leave us playing in the Welsh PL.

We could always get good, hungry for a career youngsters, even those we can convert to 'home grown' then sell them on, to clubs needing good home grown players for squad numbers.
Good money in that.
Especially when you see £Millions for the likes of Clucas.

But, I s'pose that means we'd have to get a good scouting and buying network going, rather than rely on the Scottish academies.
Or some tw@ playing FIFA Football DoF Manager 2012 and deciding a goalie playing in Australia is a good bet

I think Connor is a good prospect, much like Ben was when he was thrust into the limelight.
Again due to no proper backups in the squad.
But, if we'd had a good squad, Ben wouldn't have got the chance, so Catch 22 there.

If you wake up breathing, thats a good start to your day and you'll make many thousands of people envious.

I don't think having senior backups in every position is a requirement for a good squad.

A good squad would provide a stable platform for any backup player to come in and perform well, regardless of their experience, and well-run clubs allow avenues for their young players to progress into first team fixtures.

We had that when Ben came in. It was a settled side playing good football. He had our captain next to him shouting a lot. He could get forward and link up with mobile, intelligent forward players. We had a lot of the ball so the defence wasn't under constant pressure. He looked shaky and lightweight at the start, but was given time and flourished.

Here’s a question..... should we have kept Jazz Richards ?

We struggle at right back for a few years - and one of our favourite sons is playing that very position for them up the road.....

Any regrets ?

Of course not. We aspired to much better than Jazzley. Just because Jenkins and his Merry crew were too incompetent to sort it out doesn’t make him any less below par as a pl player.
