The Draw 18:45 - Dec 5 with 21072 views | Yorkshire_Dale | Only a few minutes off, but we will have to endure all usual BBC crap sucking up to Stevie G and Ian Right Right Wright before the proper stuff. Far too much farting around, just get on with it. HOME draw please.

The Draw on 19:56 - Dec 5 by Laveritty | Rather disappointing for both sides I would imagine. When teams at our level (and below)do get through to the 3rd round we all hope for a glamour tie. With regards to live TV coverage - I would be very surprised to be one of them! If you were to rank all 32 ties in order of the likeliness of being picked for live TV coverage I really couldn't see us being any higher than around midway. Man U against anyone is always going to get picked and BT/BBC will be milking the return of Jaap Stam to OT. I would think that between them BT/BBC will probably show that game, 2 all PL ties (probably MCFC v WHUFC and EFC v LCFC) and then 2 PL teams up against lower league sides (CFC v NCFC and LFC v PAFC/NCFC). Let's see if they can surprise us by choosing something less obvious? (Like BT did when they chose our game against Stoke a couple of years ago). That said - I'd be more than happy to avoid another traumatic TV appearance and having to explain to everyone I know that 'we are better than that - honestly!' (Again!) |
Stoke are still a PL team, though.

The Draw on 20:07 - Dec 5 with 2226 views | BigDaveMyCock | On a positive note the tie will not provide the slightest distraction for the players during the busy festive period. Not a great draw for a few teams to be fair. Accy will be disappointed with Luton at home and I've got a Macc supporting colleague who, if they get past Oxford, will not be feeling all cup-tastic about Rotherham away.

You want to get as far as you can, this gives us a great chance to get to round 4, and I'm happy with that.

Whiners? I see plenty of people being cautious about taking this tie for granted, which is wise. Do you remember the Maidstone game at their place? Cup form.

Totally agree, and it's a great chance to push the £100 season tickets so they can use voucher A (or whatever) in the second stage of sales. If that gains an extra 10 sales, it's worth it. Easy enough to do: days 1-3 to full ST holders, days 4-5 to half ST holders, day 6 onwards open sale.

Of course you should be cautious, its the ultimate banana skin type game, but Id much rather have this type of tie than away at the big boys of the PL.

Good point about avoiding the potential for distraction during the Xmas/NY fixtures, which often have a huge influence on momentum going into the business end of the season

Don't understand why any Dale fan would rather play a non-league team away from home than one of the big boys. So we have a supposedly better chance of going a round further before getting knocked out? Big deal! People still talk about our game at Anfield 20 years ago, nobody talks about us managing a draw away at Aldershot a few years back...

The Draw on 19:35 - Dec 5 by D_Alien | Aye, that infamous 1-3 defeat at Spotland in November 1966 Brian Richardson, our midfield dynamo, carried off with a broken leg; first time I'd seen that on a football pitch and remember feeling stunned [Post edited 5 Dec 2016 19:41]

Close but no cigar. Brian Richardson broke his leg the previous week in the home match against Bradford City. I was at both games and I remember the Richardson injury. I can't recall the Bradford player involved but he " quietened " Richardson who was running the show that day. It wasn't an accident as far as remember it, I think it was an over the ball challenge. I was getting over my own broken leg at the time so I was particularly un-impressed by the challenge. [Post edited 5 Dec 2016 20:37]
