Maesydderwen Comprehensive 23:37 - Aug 3 with 7944 views | jack_lord | My son has had his GCSE disqualified because a teacher forwarded the wrong piece of work by email to the examination board. How the f... is this fair. This was supposed to be a controlled assessment where the teacher checks all the work of the 11 pupils but he did not. We can not appeal - only the school can and the head teacher does not feel there are any grounds to. My son is devastated as this particular subject was his first choice for A level study and he worked his arse off for, Surely there must be some way to get to the examination board?

| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Maesydderwen Comprehensive on 23:42 - Aug 3 with 4463 views | BarryTownSwam | Hi. I am a teacher in a secondary school (not in Swansea). Feel for you and your son. Before I offer my (persona) advise on how to appeal etc cN you please explain the grounds the head teacher felt exempted an official appeal ?
Maesydderwen Comprehensive on 23:47 - Aug 3 with 4442 views | jedijack | Why would the head teacher think there were no grounds to appeal, if pupils were getting marked unfairly? Seems pretty stupid to me.

Maesydderwen Comprehensive on 00:09 - Aug 4 with 4365 views | jack_lord | I know a lot of brilliant teachers and we will be meeting up with a couple of them in Spain next week but this smacks of the school trying to not admit that one of the fundamental checks was not made. There are 11 pupils in his class not 40.

Maesydderwen Comprehensive on 09:49 - Aug 4 with 3995 views | waynekerr55 | Find out who the exam board are. Then ring them as a matter of urgency. Gather as much evidence as possible, and write to the board of governor's, using recorded delivery. Ask for policies and procedures.

Thanks for some excellent advice from above and what has happened, basically is a file has not been saved. This was then sent in and not checked by the teacher. This was submitted and the, in spite of it being just research which can be done at home (and they have some evidence on the school G drive). It may be possible to undelete files on the pen drive but at the moment it is looking unlikely that we can recover the right piece of work. This is, unfortunately nearly 5 months after the work was submitted.

Maesydderwen Comprehensive on 10:15 - Aug 4 with 3932 views | jacktar | You can find the school policies on their website at: http://www.ysgolmaesydderwen.co.uk/policies.html and specifically the document relating to controlled assessment on that page. You can also get more information from the Joint Council for Qualifications here: http://www.jcq.org.uk/exams-office/controlled-assessments It's difficult to pass comment with the information you have provided but it seems strange that the headteacher has said that there are not grounds for appeal.
| We shouldn't all be tarred with the same brush you know! |

Ignore The Gower Jack. He's being all edgey again. He does it when anything to do with teaching is mentioned as he delights in trying to have sneaky digs. He's a very strange fellow.

Maesydderwen Comprehensive on 10:45 - Aug 4 with 3876 views | ItchySphincter | If the work is lost I can't see what you can achieve even if you can appeal? Many years ago I did GCSE Art which I hoped to do at A level - one of my reachers on the QT told me my folder had been graded and that I had nothing to worry about. When my results came in I had a D grade. I was shocked and when I asked what had happened I was told that my work was randomly selected by a moderator and that's what I got. I picked up my folder half way through my first term in first year sixth only to find that half my work was missing and that it never got sent to the moderator. Never went back to school after that.

Are you having a laugh mate? Are you seriously saying you're a teacher when you don't know the difference between "advise" and "advice"? Hope you don't teach English. I'd be really pissed off if my kids' education was left in your hands. Is there no minimum level of a grasp of English required to be a teacher these days? Maybe you should try reading a few books during the 13 weeks per year that you get off. [Post edited 4 Aug 2016 11:02]
