I don't know what you mean by 'financed our own deals' or 'paying them interest'?
If you are saying why can't the council do it all then I assume it's because they can't readily put their hands on millions of pounds that they can then speculate with.
If you are saying why can't British firms do it, then I assume they will also bid for the deals. The Swansea University development at Jersey Marine was done by St Modwyn's for example who are a UK firm.
As for paying them interest? They put up money and take profit. For the bits that are put up by public money that will take a share of profit.
You have to remember that these projects also carry a good deal of risk, and also I wouldn't trust public sector project management of these things - not because it's public sector but because they simply don't have the experience or expertise and also don't have the economies of scale. |
Surely councils can go to central Government for large projects, or surely they can borrow from the treasury at a reasonable rate of interest, we are still in the EU can we get money off the European Union ?, is Swansea an Objective 1 area ?
Needing foreign money and then leaving them to cream off profits, oh dear, seems like this country has not got a pot to piss in.

I thought we had very strict rules here about player ownership and registration but not sure. I didn't think British clubs could do that? |
Not sure either. I know that as of 1 May 2015 FIFA stopped the assigning of transfer rights to Third Parties. I don't whether a similar ruling applies to owners of clubs. |  |

Totally agree. There has to be a bigger fish here in the background. Remember, Martin Morgan had Huw has his little frontman and i am certain its the same with this consortium.
