I actually felt for him when it happened. I wasnt in any way endorsing what happened. I dont think Andrew was either. Thats just how bad things have got for Gomis. Large sections of the crowd openly mocking him. I also think the last few months have brought out the worst in alot of people.

The Official Swansea City v Watford AFC Monday Night Football Thread on 22:46 - Jan 18 by monmouth | it was jaw dropping that second offside though? Then he proved that he has something that no one else in our team tonight seemed to have. Something different and the desire to score. i think he does care, and just because he doesn't suit us particularly he takes way too much shit. What we've seen is what you get from him, like it or lump it. next to nothing and then something that no one else can do. One onside out of 20 like against manUnd but it wins the game. Not for me, but there it is, No point in carping about it. With one touch he would have been more effective than Ayew if it had gone one inch to the right. |
I do feel sorry for Gomis ... Either he's failed to adjust to us, us to him , or more likely both but he's done well in patches here. He's misfired for long stretches but he's been singled out mightily unfairly IMO. Either way, until we bring a new bloke in we still look more dangerous when he's on the pitch, although we tend to end up imbalanced elsewhere as we crowbar other players in. Not a fan of the no strikers formation. Oh and massive win. Massive.

I like him and think he's been handed a near impossible task. Some of the criticism of him is pure fantasy. Have to say tough I did chuckle when he came on and set off the offside flag.

The Official Swansea City v Watford AFC Monday Night Football Thread on 22:21 - Jan 18 by Bloodyhills | On the other hand he almost scored. ANyway, you are right that he doesn't care. We need to get rid and have people who have a passion for playing for us. |
You see, I just don't believe he doesn't care. Nobody gets more annoyed at his offsides than me, he's his own worst enemy. But his celebration vs City and for Ayew's goal against Sunderland weren't coming from a player who doesn't care IMO I kinda feel for him sometimes because I don't think he's had any support from midfield these last few months, but has probably felt the fans wrath more than anybody
The Official Swansea City v Watford AFC Monday Night Football Thread on 23:16 - Jan 18 with 1871 views | Clinton | Ki and Taylor do not get enough support on the left. Taylor magnificent, Ki less so and made mistakes, but sometimes there is just the two of them on the left with no Swan within 30 yards. Generally they hold it together on that side well. Ki better in the challenge after ash gave him the most almighty b*ll*cking late on. Stick together, Ki did try.

The Official Swansea City v Watford AFC Monday Night Football Thread on 22:54 - Jan 18 by londonlisa2001 | That could be a very big result for us in shaping the season. Can't believe how nervous I felt just standing in front of tele head in hands and shouting. Very very happy - not going to carp about any weaknesses tonight but have to highlight Ash and Leon. Grabbing the game by the scruff if the neck and refusing to concede. Two giants. Big week ahead for building the team and squad. Game on! |
All good points. It takes a very level head to say we shouldn't carp and you are far more level headed than me. If we were one down I would have had no problem with Baf coming on. If he receives the ball on a tee peg in a bit of space then he's deadly and that might have been needed. However we were one up and an extra defender was the order of the day I would have thought. Any one of the forward midfielders could have served Baf's role on the break, but you don't need him in the 18 yard box bumbling into people trying to do a job they know that is hard enough already. We've seen enough of this all season. Perhaps he needs a specialist supplier, perhaps he needs to drop back and leave Ayew forward, but as statistics show clearly he is now more than unlucky , he is a liability as the one forward striker because he lives his life offside. Anyway, what say a week for the squad in a warm place getting to know the new crew?
The Official Swansea City v Watford AFC Monday Night Football Thread on 23:47 - Jan 18 with 1639 views | monmouth | You're joking. A week on our new training facility working bloody hard getting in tune with what the new man wants. they can have a week in the sun when we're safe and not a second before. Tonight is a lifeline, but it's only the start. two tough games coming up and if we take our eye off the ball we'll be back deep in the shit pronto.

Spot on again, Ash said in his interview after the match, we are not celebrating this is just one win, it starts now till the end of the season. Wise words.
The Official Swansea City v Watford AFC Monday Night Football Thread on 00:51 - Jan 19 with 1520 views | Griffting | Just watched game back on telly.. Thoughts are: What a great first half, total domination. Need a striker though, a proper focal point. Someone who is going to draw away two defenders with his runs and allow supporting players space. Second half they rallied as expected, but we held firm. Good defensive display. Ash was a man mountain after a few nervous passes at the start. Nice goal as well. Taylor was about as good as i've ever seen him, slowly getting used to that wing back role. Ki is disappointing right now, shy'd out of many 50/50, but he got the assist. The frustration in Bafe as a player is typified by his performance tonight. 3 offsides within 5 minutes of being on then created a chance out of nothing and hits the post. A true enigma. Sky saying we were lucky to not give a pen away for Naughton hand ball.. Not that i even thought it was hand ball as it flicks off his knee so quickly he can't move out of the way, but a bit of fortune coming our way. And we deserved it. Hopefully new coach can give us some extra crisp to our play, speed things up from back to front and kick on up the table. Oh, and sign us a couple of players.. please. Our downfall started at Watford, lets hope its ended at Watford as well!

The Official Swansea City v Watford AFC Monday Night Football Thread on 07:13 - Jan 19 with 1366 views | AnotherJohn | As others have said, that was a huge three points. Ash played a captain's role and finally got that crucial headed goal he has been threatening for eons. The crowd really got behind the side and it was interesting to hear a couple of supporters with English voices behind me talking about that. For all the positives that second half took its toll on the nerves. There was a period around 60 minutes where we had no out ball and seemed to continually concede possession. I was willing Curt to bring on Barrow and it did make a difference when he finally got the nod. Thought Taylor had blown it with that header. From where I was sitting that shot flashed just wide. Let us hope this is the turning point.
