Because he plays like crap virtually every week while Smithies came in for one game (as a result of Green's match-costing howler against Forest) and was bombed out again to accommodate a severely under-performing player. No player brought in sporadically can be expected to be at their best. Green has had a long, long run and suggested now he's not good enough. Smithies deserves 6-10 games as I don't see how he could do worse. | | | |

I don't think anyone has said it's all Green's fault but as a hugely experienced player in the most important position in the team, he's been so bad for so long that people are obviously going to lose it with him. It's not like the reserve is a 17-year-old. | | | |
