tour de france 2015 thread 14:48 - Jun 29 with 17350 views | jackforever | Big race starting this weekend and 10 British riders including 2 welshmen will make it all the more interesting. Team sky packed with brits which thankfully is a complete reversal from the giro. Hope cav is back to his best and can dominate stage wins. Fantastic event and one of my highlights of the sporting calender.

For 30 years, the eastern block were manufacturing, developing, doping kids to produce gold medals tonpromotectge glory of the socialist state. I d suggest 70per cent of Russian gold medals were a result of drugs and 90 per cent of East German. Go cav, go

tour de france 2015 thread on 21:15 - Jun 29 by orion3016 | For those of us that appreciate it ... Alpe d'huez mountain finish - nothing better |
Just came back from Zermatt, got out most days on the trails, makes the South Wales "mountains" look like a little bit of an offence under the trades description act! Thought I would save some money by riding up trails rather than train or cable car, that didn't last long in 25c, two days and I found the train a bargain after that. Made the error of riding the World Cup downhill track from Sunnega to Zermatt on a FS hire bike, totally exhausted and frightened the life out of myself. I should have realised Iwas out of my depth when I saw that there was a ramp to jump off to clear the first road at the start gate. You would love it as the bars and restaurants are all open so there is always the opportunity for refreshments.

tour de france 2015 thread on 18:51 - Jun 29 by Banosswan | Degenkolb doesn't have the raw power of cav or kittel, so would need to do it in a Peter Sagan kind of way. The problem with that is Peter Sagan and the strength of the tinkoff team. |
I think Degenkolb has done preformed in a Sagan kind of way better than Sagan this year. Hopefully Cav will get a good few stages but he'l probably fall short of the green jersey due to the classics specialists having a go in the rougher terrain , depending on this stage profiles obviously.

I think Tinkoff will send Sagan up the road with a couple of riders to hoover up points, but this also has the advantage of keeping contador's main rivals honest. Could see some interesting attacks from him where he bridges the gap to a few team mates.

Sounds brilliant, now that's a proper biking holiday. Big downhills and lots of alcohol opportunities. What full suss did you ride, and how much they charge you for hire?

It was a Swiss brand and something called a Stokli or something like that, they also had Scott carbon FS but they were too small for me. With helmet, leg and armrotection, lift pass and insurance it was 130 chf for two days, I had a further 10% discount through my hotel. it was not cheap but all good quality stuff and you could go up on the Sunnegga funicular railway in about ten minutes. It would have been much cheaper if I had booked in advance. I did the trip pretty cheap and if I was going again I would take a bike with me on easy jet and then pay for the train transfer which would have been considerably cheaper. The beer was about 7- 8 chf a pint with Weisebeer 9chf, I wouldn't recommend a night on that before riding, I had the worse hangover ever after one night!. I daren't use my phone for strava as I knew I was going to come off.

Thomas did a great job for froome and shepherding him for a large part of the race he inevitably fell away over the last 1k climb

On top of that, it's a brilliant sport and you don't see the same thing 75 times like you do with Formula-Fixed, it's like a journey alongside a sport. [Post edited 6 Jul 2015 23:38]

Got a feeling many of the fallers today won't be there tomorrow. Cancellaras out and a few more surely will follow. Just a word on Cancellara today, what guts to get back on and finish despite breaking his back. Imagine a modern day footballer playing on? Toughest sports men out there these days.
