Borini's finishing ability is top notch IF he get played as a centre forward and not a winger. For 4-5 million it would be a low risk pint that could pay off massively. He's still young and I bet he'd love to come back here |

The old adage is that you can never get value in January, and although there are certain exceptions like you I don't think we'll find our next long term striking option in January.

Yep must agree, watching Gomis that thought definitely crossed my mind. More suited to our previous style of play which we had to adapt to best suit Bony. Now perhaps we could revert more naturally to our more consistently free flowing style.
I think Gomis's showing in his limited game time gives a lot of optimism and compares favourably with Bony at the start - although of course different skills
Even before Michu was injured at Cardiff (and hardly played again after) Bony was getting twice the PL game time that Gomis had over the same number of games (Bony average of 50 mins a game and played in every single PL game for which he was available, where Gomis averaging 26 mins). Bony also having full European and cup game time from the outset. Yet in the same period that Bony had only scored one open play PL goal so had Gomis, even though he had significantly less playing time. So it is a shame if some are prejudging Gomis without him having an equal PL opportunity (obviously we are not fortunate enough to have Europe to help integrate Gomis more rapidly). | | | |

I think you're underestimating him here, I'd say he's up to the Prem as shown in his time at Sunderland he's probably not good enough to be the #1 striker in the prem but as a backup he's good enough.
If Liverpool buy another striker in January it would probably lower his value to them (which can't be great at the moment anyway) and you could get a good deal, his wages would no doubt be a concern though as I think he's on too much compared to his ability at Liverpool (just speculation on my part). |  | | |

Interesting. I wonder if that was after Bony was not sold or in the case that Bony was not sold. Hard to believe we would splash out the kind of money would would have had to to get Gomis here on an intended long term second striker.
Possibly a plan B that Villareal showed as pretty flawed (certainly at that stage)
Hope the serious lack of playing time has not soured the relationship with Gomis. Without playing them both together obviously a very difficult situation. | | | |
