Just listened to BBC Radio Kent commentary on the game. They can not believe they have managed to steal a point.

"Dale should have been out of sight"

Need a striker and no rose or Andrews near our team

"No Rose" I'll have some of what you're having....Best player on the pitch today and the MOM of many in the Sandy, Andrew for Done has to be the most ridiculous substitution I have ever seen.....Muldoon was the obvious choice for that switch and god only knows what Hery has done to sit on the bench through that today. 2 points most definitely lost against the worst side in the division. Not going to blame the ref in the slightest, we created enough and we missed enough...Get a striker in soon to take some of the weight of Matty or at least play the one we have on the bench.......

Poll: Hill in or out? 2nd referendum.....

Didnt their attack for the goal start with a throw in that was incorrectly given their way?

He was pretty terrible and very inconsistent with his decisions players didn't know whether they were coming or going with their challenges/fouls.

Would it help if someone threw the book at you?

Fairly sure the referee had read it.

I thought Rose was excellent today, very quick and was quite often in the right place at the right time.

Tanser deserves a special mention too I think, another outstanding performance and he didn't make a fuss about being bullied by Gills bigger boys.

As for Calvin Andrew, well, I just can't imagine what Hilly saw in him when he offered him a contract. Did we sign him up for two years?

Agree Tanser was my man of the match! Rose was probably my second in line.

Let's not forget we still played well today and created chances.

Can anyone explain why 'abuse reported' has appeared on my earlier ('just joking') post?

Could be Salwadale, he has form for reporting abuse

We need to do a lot of work on making sure we stay on-side. This would pay real dividends. We have plenty of pace in the team to beat the offside trap. Surely this is low hanging fruit. Granted some of the off-side decisions looked dubious but you have to give the benefit of doubt to the lino in most cases.

Hilly was spot on in his post-match interview when he said it wasn't our striker's day today and our defence should have looked after our strikers by keeping a clean sheet. They played well, but it only takes one mistake and bingo, we lose 2 points. Logan needs to work on his kicking again. Most of his kicks hit the intended target but others were woeful.

When Vincenti scored there was a second or two when everyone was second guessing whether it went in. In the Main stand we were waiting for the TDS to roar but there was a delayed reaction...weird.

Talking of atmosphere, Hilly asked if there was any atmosphere today in his post match interview. He is questioning if Dale fans are expecting too much. We are closer to the "Vauxhall Conference" than the Championship he reminded us. Somebody please tell him that is the, erm, ...Vanarama Conference now !!!!!

Other than the overall team performance today, the hope that Rose gave me, with his tackles, corners, free-kicks, shots and sublime passes gives me more optimism going forward. A real pleasure to watch Michael !!!!

Up the Dale !!!!!!

I thought the referee did pretty good today. He let a lot of hard, honest challenges go when fussier referees would have piped up.

Simple rule of Soccer is if you don't take your chances then don't be surprised when the opponents do. Gillingham were outplayed for every minute of the game and shouldn't have been able to look their supports in the eye, but they had a chance and took it (at the third attempt).

Rose was my MOTM today too. The chances we missed were woeful - two points dropped and our fault. Even Hendo was out of sorts in front of goal. It needs addressing.

As for the ref, 442's weekly support for the ref's no matter what is bewildering - Ilderton dropped some humungous clangers both ways today. Undeniable. When the Pearl St started singing "You don't know what your doing", The Gills fans joined in! They were equally aghast at some very easy decisions that were given the wrong way on too many occasions. I remember the game (11-12 under Coleman?) when Sheff U spanked us 2-5 here, and Ilderton was superb - you hardly knew he was there. Today he was well off the game - he read so many things incorrectly.

Weekly support? I've criticised some of his decisions. Sorry if it's not the done thing to point out that a bloke is trying to do his best but making the errors along the way. As I've posted, if a ref ruins a game by striving to be the centre of attention and never being able to control matters, the level of criticism we've seen at the last two home league games would be justified. As it is, we lost one game because the away side produced a solid performance and drew another because we missed too many chances. Along the way there were decisions I was vociferous about at the time, but that's football. I can even understand the chants, when the decisions like the 'corner' in the second half happen.

But on neither of the last two occasions did the refs deserve the reception (departure?!) as they left the pitch.

Have noticed with Logan that his distribution when the ball is played back to him is nowhere near as good as when he kicks it himself, if you know what I mean.

Not heard the interview, but hasn't much been made about the fans understanding of where we are and how we play this season? There is no expectation apart from enjoying see the team develop. Edit: just "one or two" according to this:

Yes, Keith, Gillingham did have 9 lives today. It felt like a defeat in the end because we lost 2 points, and we know that points are valuable in this League.

According to Hilly, Peter Vincenti could have got 4 goals, Ian Henderson a hatrick and Matty Done 2.........................WOW !!

And he's not far wrong !!

It's the new phrase for how teams defend I think. Have heard Mourinho use similar - "low block". Deep/low block is a team defending deep, sometimes parking the bus on the edge of the area, usually two banks of four very close together. Best example is what Chelsea did at Barcelona to great effect in the Champions Lge a couple of years back. But it doesn't have to be as extreme as that, some defend defend deep but then break in real numbers - Barnsley did it well the other week.

High blocks are teams like Barca when they try and win the ball back high up the pitch. We did this ourselves brilliantly in the Coventry game with Dawson employed in a very advanced role to get us the ball back early.

Their midfield (and whole team tbh) was shite today. I'm not being funny or anything but I reckon my Uncle could have bossed that midfield and looked a good player against them.

Rose shouldn't be anywhere near the team as we have better players than him in every single position. If I was Lund or Hery (the latter especially) I'd be asking my manager serious questions as to why a left back is playing before me in my preferred position. He's a good lad though Rose, our Keith probably promised him a game against shite opposition over a pint in the Regal.

Andrew is a joke and genuinely becoming one of the worst strikers we've ever signed. Why Muldoon didn't come on instead is absolutely baffling.

Dawson was awesome and MOM IMO.

We should have won easily today but poor finishing let us down. The referee was poor but the linesman in front of the away stand was abhorrent.

Rose was one of the best players on the pitch today and must have shown in training that he was deserving of a pace. Although hery is a great player technically he is a liability at the back I would much rather see him further forward unfortunately when he's had his chance further forward he hasn't seemed to have put as much effort in.

Agreed, Rose has been far from perfect in previous games, but today he played his guts out and didn't put a foot wrong. It might have been a gamble to play Rose over Hery but in my opinion the gamble paid off, can't see what the issue is.

Here's the issue.

League form since beginning of September:

6 Sep Crawley (a) Won 4-0 Hery starts
13 Sep Sheff Utd (a) Lost 0-1 Hery on bench
16 Sep Walsall (h) Won 4-0 Hery starts
20 Sep Coventry (h) Won 1-0 Hery starts
27 Sep L. Orient (a) Won 3-2 Hery starts
4 Oct Barnsley (h) Lost 0-1 Hery on bench
18 Oct Gillingham (h) Drew 1-1 Hery on bench

To sum up:

Hery starts: P4 W4 D0 L0 F12 A2

Hery on bench P3 W0 D1 L2 F1 A3

Statistics aren't everything, but Hilly's decision to leave him out in the face of winning games and scoring a shedload of goals defies all footballing logic.

I must admit I'd like to know Hill's thinking behind the decision, although I don't think it affected the outcome today; that was down to other areas of the field.

The last time I saw such a one sided draw was when we snatched a point off of Chesterfield under Eyre.

I myself will start to worry when we put in Gill like performances rather than our own yesterday.

We played ace, not for the first time showed that Hill's brand of football and assembled squad is too good for some teams in this division.

Played great, totally dominated, had our shooting boots on the wrong feet.

As for the ref being good or bad, i think he realised he had cocked up when the TDS as a man, woman, child, dog, pigeon and ant sat under Studds told him what they thought of his decision to give a corner in the second half.apart from that he seemed quie good, their fans probably thought they should have had a pen in the first half. Wrong.
