I'd agree on the first season bit. However, Shaw developed rapidly and Ben regressed somewhat alarmingly. He was pretty woeful for the second half of last season.

Exactly. Has played too much football since Taylor's injury including all international matches.
Ben will come back better next season and is already the best taker of corners at the club. Will become a dead ball specialist in time. |  |

If Ben were to leave then i dont see the need to get a left back in taking into account that we might be in the market for Right Back already.
