Radio Wales Phone-in on 18:59 - Feb 22 by Brynmill_Jack | Rob Phillips bitterness restrainer just broke, just mentioned us paying 5p in the pound lmfao |
And that prat from Penarth "we could've been a top club, if we'd have cheated our way to the top. They stood by and watched hundreds of local businesses go to the wall." Let it go. That's well in the past, much like your last major cup win or foray into Europe. it's not our fault that Comet, Tie Rack, Blockbuster or Greece went bust. Although undoubtedly, you lot will try and blame us for that as well And we did our best to stop Spain going the same way, by giving them some much needed foreign currency.

Noone is a regular; Mackay somewhat incredulously ignored him the first ten games.

Always interesting when you ask for details of these business that went out of business. Even more interesting when you look at the money that was actually owed to local businesses. They defaulted on more with them kitchen fitters.

They keep spouting that argument yet whenever I ask any bluetit which business went bust they never know. If proved I stand corrected. Anyway as I recall it was a proposal which a majority of the people we owed money had to vote for, it passed therefore it's a non-argument.

This is the bit that really winds me up, it is one of the only things they can sling at us and they do so at every opportunity, even an "impartial" journo like Rob Phillips on Radio "Wales". Yes we did take a CVA and took advantage of the different rules that were(n't) in place in those days but do they seriously expect anyone to believe that if they could have done the same when their financial problems arose, without the points deduction, that they would not have done so? They would have you believe that their refusal to go down that route is evidence of their superior class as a club, but this, of course, is a load of bollocks. The other thing they fail to acknowledge is that the circumstances surrounding our and their financial problems could not have been more different. We were a League Two (as it is now) club, literally battling to stay in existence, where as in their case, it came from Sam Hammam running up huge debts for the club when chasing the premier league dream, and while he was doing so, they took every opportunity to remind us about how much of a bigger richer club they were than us, without realising that Hammam was not actually spending his own money, as no one bothered to ask! While they were no doubt in a poor financial state when Sam Hammam bought them, the fact remains, their problems have mainly come from his involvement as they have passed from one madman to another. If they had chased Hammam out of town when he first rocked up then they would probably still be in the lower leagues but at least in possession of their identity and their dignity (if that word could ever be attributed to that club), but of course, arrogance is so deep in the Bassey mentality that they probably thought that Hammam's indulgent spending was normal for a huge club that they all think they are. I was sorely tempted to phone in to make these points but they are so one eyed and in denial when it comes to their beloved red birds that I felt there was no point. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Considering the major creditor was Mel Nurse (a director) whom I believe we owed £800 k then the figures for the other businesses must be around 200 - 500 k? I heard that the club had plans to reimburse the other minor creditors in some way, which I would be delighted with as those sums are small change to us nowadays. At least it would shut up finally the wailing and gnashers of teeth from down east. Whichever way you look at it if they implode financially there will only be a scorched piece of earth left where the CCS once stood.

To be honest, they are so desperate that even if Huw had ordered some food from Rossi's for a board meeting and then not paid the invoice, they would still use it as mud to sling at us. The problem, as I see it, is that this bile is now being spouted on national (Wales) radio, and the uninformed will believe what they are hearing, which doesn't help our club's reputation.

I think it was because a jack had tweeted that Cardiff are getting what they deserve after years of living beyond their means which Phillips read out, he then said....Cardiff fans would argue.....cue the 5p in the pound remark.

I would love the club to force the WM (or rather Radio Wales) into a grovel long apology and a statement of the real facts . This slander is getting beyond a joke now, especially from professional sports journalists on OUR national radio station

Reacting to it would be like reacting to the crazy homeless person claiming that the world is about to end. We're just being the better man.

Has any thought been given to reimbursing those who did lose out? I know we don't need to but it would be a good gesture and the amounts would be paltry in comparison to the positive vibe.

This would be a seriousy good PR move wouldn't it? Timing would have to be right though. Don't really want to see "Swans shamed into.....by radio wales....." Maybe just wait for their next disaster or the day of their relegation to announce.
