We never recovered from our bad start. We could have scored 2 goals though, but wasn´t to be. Glad we weren´t trashed after that bad start.

The player ratings suggest that people are getting a bit carried away with this performance and in particular by the 2nd half. In the first half R's looked (understandably) underconfident and shakey. Lots of credit to the centre halves, Mas & Pav for attitude & in particular & Luke for just about everything. But performances from others looked nervous & pedestrian, Ez doesn't seem to know what he is supposed to do and I have now lost faith in Hemed. Is he even trying?

As previous post , No starters got less than 6 ??? Referee is currently on 4.9 ?? Best ref we've had in the league for ages

Phew. Beat what is front of them. Team selection and formations more or less spot on. A long way to go so keeping my hope locked up for now.

Much better performance and much needed.Yoshida made a big difference with his calmness,a much better team effort finally.Bertrand was a big improvement over Targett and looked back to his best. The next two games will be tough but if we can show the same grit then who knows we may get something out of them. Coyr.

Just what was needed against a poor Fulham side that will not catch Saints. Yoshi looked good at the back. Prefer Gunn in goal too. Bertrand finding his form. Much to be cheerful about although not out of the woods yet.

Shockingly important 3 points on the board. Well done, Saints.
Victories over Bournemouth, Huddersfield and Brighton + maybe 2 draws from games vs Newcastle and Wolves will hopefully be enough to keep out of trouble -- which means that nobody should panic if we get nothing against Man. U., Tottenham and Liverpool en route.
Man of the match: Romeu for me. Great game by Yoshida also. Good to have him back in the side. Much more calm on the ball than Stephens.

I'm glad my bold prediction turned out well--that if Long started we'd lose, but if he didn't we'd win! And didn't he look like total rubbish when he did come on!! He looks worse the better the team around him plays.

I still question the back three tactic, especially at home against a team we ought to beat. But if we're going to do it, then Yoshida's experience, speed and calm are probably needed; even if he has his faults, he's not handing over goals to the opponents at the rate of one or more a game.

The rest of the team played pretty well, or as well as the could in a system that was pretty unadventurous.

My biggest sensation (and I bet a lot of the players share it) is relief to get another win.
