Beattie: This Is A Fantastic Place To Work

Craig Beattie summed up life at the Liberty by hailing the team spirit achieved at the club

The Swansea City striker cited the team spirit as a huge reason why the side has gone eleven games unbeaten and currently find themselves sitting in 4th place in the Championship table.

Pre and post match huddles may seem excessive to the outside eye at times but Beattie says that is a major part of the closeness of the squad and the togetherness instilled by Paulo Sousa - an achievement made the more remarkable after the heart was ripped out of the club during a summer of turmoil.

Speaking to the Evening Post, Beattie said "We have a really close bunch of boys here. We mix very well

"You may hear people around the country say it over and again, but I am being 100 per cent genuinely honest — everyone here is absolutely unbelievable. They are good players, fantastic characters and great people.

"What you see out there is not fake. We are all grabbing each other when we score, and we really mean that because we are a tight unit.

"Everyone is so happy when we do well, but when the chips are down we are all behind each other.

"I've never experienced team spirit like this. Everyone is very humble and know we are privileged — it is a fantastic place to work.

"I reckon it plays a big part in our success because we want to achieve something together.

It's early on in the season, but we are not there by fluke," said the striker.

"We are on a fantastic run. The defence has been excellent, the midfield is keeping the ball very well and we are finding the net.

"There's a great work ethic here, but it is far too early to get carried away."

He added: "We are not the biggest club in the league. There's West Brom, Middlesbrough, Newcastle — we are not talking about budgets, we are talking about everything.

"These clubs are spending three or four million on a player.

"But I don't think we are being viewed as little old Swansea. We have the respect now — Derby came here and put six in defence throughout the game, so that says a lot."
