![]() Tuesday, 23rd Nov 2010 13:41 Norwich City manager, Paul Lambert has requested a personal hearing at the FA after admitting a charge of improper conduct. The charge comes as a result of an incident at the Madjeski Stadium in the game against Reading which saw Grant Holt given a straight red card by Michael Oliver. A red card subsequently overturned by the FA. It is more likely, though, that the charge will relate to the fact that Lambert was out of his technical area complaining to the fourth official about the tackle that has left Korey Smith on the physio's table, and the Reading player escaping any punishment. If Lambert meets the FA Regulatory Commission early this week, any punishment might well affect the Norwich manager for his first East Anglian derby. It isn't so much his antics during the 90 minutes that Lambert is charged with. The 25 year old referee, with a growing record of controversy, reported the Canaries boss for what was said in the tunnel after the game. It must be hoped that the Regulatory Commission takes stock of Michael Oliver's previous record. He (Oliver) had another red card rescinded just a week earlier, that of Blackpool's Pablo Ibanez for a foul in the penalty area in the game against West Bromwich Albion. In the same game Oliver showed another red card against a Blackpool player, this time it was Jara for an incident near the corner flag. Promoting such a young ref to the Select Group seemed a good idea, to encourage more lads to take up the whistle, but it does appear that it takes a bit more maturity to handle games at the higher levels of the game. If a penalty is to be made against him, Lambert's previous record will also be taken into consideration. He has two previous charges upheld against him, along with warnings to his future conduct.
