Firmino was brought off after Liverpool were 3-1 up in the 79th minute. There's a very clear difference between that substitution and the ones Cooper made when we were only 0-1 up. Oxlade-Chamberlain came on for him anyway and it still left them with Salah and Mane up front so it's not like he brought on a right back for a winger or a defensive midfielder for an attacking midfielder. Gomez did come on for Salah but that was the 87th minute and they were still 3-1 up. Cooper made the wrong substitutions. It happens (a bit too much recently) and I hope he learns from it as he has learned to play proper wingers but it was the wrong thing to do and almost cost us the game completely. |

Ziyech signed for Ajax in 2016 when Guidolin was our manager |

I think that's a little harsh. He scored that wonderful equaliser against Everton on his first game back. Against Chelsea he tried but Kante had the better of him for most of the game. In the Southampton match pretty much everyone was poor but I remember him trying to make thing happen a couple of times. Their goalkeeper had to make a good save to stop an Ayew shot from outside the box after he made a good run past some players. The whole team dropped after he got sent off. In the Manchester City match I'm not sure there are many players in the world who would've scored with the way we played that day. |

Celina gets picked because for a while before the international break he played a part in most of our goals. The pass before the pass. Scores against Ipswich Scored against Blackburn Against Reading he plays Dan James in 1v1 against Yiadom before he wins the penalty and then plays James in again for the assist to McBurnie Against Rotherham he turns his man and then lobs the ball over the defender to play James in for the assist to McBurnie Even against West Brom where he was nowhere near his best he put James through on goal and it should've been an assist. In most of the first few games of the season he was working hard as well. Millwall probably the best example where he worked hard all game and played a nice pass to put Montero in. He's younger than McBurnie and only a year older than Rodon. Personally he's been one of our best and most exciting players for most of the season and I wouldn't drop him after games where a lot of the team has been playing below their best. I'm not completely sure why he's been off recently but one thing could be because our right side is almost non existent. He regularly plays James in down the left but on the right it's just Roberts. His first season Europa League The first goal against Valencia Assist for winner against St.Gallen The first goal against Kuban Krasnodar Assist for equaliser against Napoli FA Cup Winner against Manchester United at Old Trafford Both goals against Birmingham after coming on at half time when we were 1-0 down. Premier League 2 goals including the goal that put us 3-2 up against Stoke Equaliser against Manchester City 2-2 and 3-3 equalisers against Liverpool Equaliser against Everton Opening goal away against Arsenal Equaliser and winner against Newcastle Opening goal against Aston Villa Second season Opening goal against Newcastle Opening goal against Stoke Both goals against Leicester Opening goal against Manchester City Opening goal against Crystal Palace Assist for opening goal against QPR Opening goal against West Ham Equaliser against Tottenham Equaliser against QPR Either you've got a bad memory or you're making things up. We didn't win or draw a lot of those but that's not his fault really. To say he only scored goals when were were a couple down is not true at all. I've left out the "unimportant" goals and assists as well. He also scored 8 or 9 headers despite you criticising that aspect of his game. In his first season he had 137 minutes per goal in all competitions and 145 minutes per goal in the league. In his second half season he had 145 minutes per goal again which also goes against claims from angryjack he was a one season wonder when he was on course to finish with 16-20 goals before he left. That and he was coming off 37 goals in 36 games when we bought him. We didn't spend 12 million on him for no reason. Of course he has flaws but you cannot expect much better than that from a Swansea City player. If he was much better he'd have been getting almost a goal a game. [Post edited 11 Nov 2018 14:49]

I think Carroll will improve in the right team but the strong criticism for him is not because "he's not built big enough". Britton goes in for challenges and he fairly often gets the ball but Carroll ends up being completely bullied by most players when he goes in for the tackle. 50/50's with Carroll are closer to always being 20/80's in favour of the opponent. When he's at his best he can play good forward passes and we've seen some decent efforts from distance in the cup so I am hopeful he'll improve but I'm not sure his atrocious tackling ever will. Clucas could be a good Championship player with the right manager. He gets into good positions in the box and a better manager and team will hopefully get the most out of that. I would not be shocked if Fer was poor or if he was bullying the Championship. |

The only season he played more minutes than the 12/13 one was 14/15. He started the Liverpool and Chelsea cup games as well as the final. Started the West Brom home game a lot of people refer to as our peak. Started 20 league games out of 38. I agree he's been a very frustrating player but there's no need to re-write history. |

I agree. I think Mesa is a good player but he needs Fulton next to him defensively. Mesa is aggressive so does win the ball but with how little Fer and Carroll are offering as cover of the midfield we need someone else in there. I know we have huge creative problems but it often takes one pass to bypass our midfield. [Post edited 26 Dec 2017 23:30]

Again this isn't really the case. His first January game was the full 90 and got an assists in the QPR game before going away for the Asia Cup, then he came back and made 10 consecutive starts scoring 4 goals, then came off the bench for the next two fixtures scoring 1 goal and finally played 74 minutes against Arsenal before missing the last two games with injury. Fabianski was a good shout for player of the year though. [Post edited 11 Dec 2017 20:29]

"Couldn't get a sniff" Ki made 29 Premier League appearances in his first season. I think 20 were starts. 2039 minutes out of a possible 3420. He also played in all of our league cup games including 90 minutes away to Liverpool and 90 minutes in both games against Chelsea. |

That's not true. He finished 7th in the first season. It was the second season where he finished 2nd. 6th in the third season. |

Ancelotti is obviously a much better manager than Clement and no where near as defensive but there are similarities with Clement in his attacking tactics. Very reliant on having quality players that can create goals by individual ability alone. |

It seems your memory is as bad as your football knowledge. "He's here to score goals, he's a striker. So nope he didn't do ok. And if it's down to the system we are adopting then wtf is he doing here!" That is the comment you made that several people disagreed with. Of course a striker can do at least ok if he doesn't score. Nothing to do with if Bony is a good signing or not. |

Well Ronaldo has never hit 50 league goals and Messi only once. Messi's last 4 seasons have seen him score 37 in 34, 26 in 33, 43 in 38 and 28 in 31. Ronaldo 25 in 29, 35 in 36, 48 in 35 and 31 in 30. Considering Ronaldo had 31 goals in one season in the premier league when he wasn't even as good a goal scorer as he has been at Madrid and Messi's record of 16 in 25 against English clubs in the Champions League, 9 in 6 against Arsenal and 5 in 5 against Manchester City, I don't see why they wouldn't be getting 30-40 goals. Harry Kane had 29 in 30 last season and they're both better than him so I think they could score a similar amount of goals as they are in Spain. |

We saw in our 1-4 victory against West Ham that Ki has the ability to become our playmaker. He was making passes that I wouldn't expect Sigurdsson to make and also got into a goal scoring position. Sigursson didn't play that match so Ki was allowed to become the main playmaker. During that match we also played a front 3 of Barrow Ayew and Routledge which is a more mobile front line than what Ki is normally playing behind. I wouldn't be surprised if in our current set up Ki would be able to step up as a play maker. |
| Forum Reply | Montero on his way out?? at 16:20 1 Sep 2017
He had 7 assists in his first season here and I bet he would've had more if Bony stayed. In fact he actually had a better assists per minute than Sigurdsson did last season. Montero isn't that player anymore but it's wrong to say he only had a couple of good games. |
