| Forum Thread | Our Wingers - Our Weakest Link at 11:49 28 Nov 2024
Firstly, I must acknowledge that since my last moan on here about walking football things have improved and the football has been far more entertaining to watch, hopefully this will continue to progress and we can evolve further into a decent team. Whilst we have progressed over recent weeks in a number of areas I think we have big weak spots on both wings which LW needs to address (surely he sees this?). I would hate to be either of our full backs currently with our current wingers in front of me, constantly giving the ball away, not tracking back and seemingly knackered after about 30 minutes every game?? Ronald puts a shift in each game so credit there, but he really needs to work on his hold up play, fitness and defensive work to add real value to the team. Peart Harris, same as above but far lazier and spends more time walking rather than running - we must have better than this in the academy worth a punt FFS? If we had 2 wingers with more energy and intelligence I could see us becoming a very good team at this level once again. I would personally prioritise this in the Jan transfer window alongside getting Cabango & Darling tied down. Overall a much better watch these past few weeks, with better quality wingers we could reach the play offs IMO. |
| Forum Thread | From The Swansea Way To Walking Football at 13:04 23 Oct 2024
The 'Swansea way' seems to have evolved into a form of slow, tedious, predictable backwards and sideways football that shows no signs of improving. I'm not one for calling for the managers head and believe he does deserve more time but for heavens sake at least try to inject something different into this current system. Every team we play know we want to dominate possession, most now just let us have the ball and sit deep looking to counter us at pace when we eventually get into the final third. Its just so predictable and means we always have to break down 11 men to score a goal - its not a mystery why we dont score many. It grates with me when commentators refer to this as the Swansea Way, this is nothing like it. This is slow, passive, predictable and tedious at best and the best we can hope for until something changes is mid table mediocrity at the very best. The Swansea way had a purpose, it had swagger, it had creative players who actually wanted to attack and cause problems, it had pace, it had excitement - it had all of these things whilst still maintaining the majority of possession. The Swansea way has eroded into a form of side to side, facing your own goal, walking football. We have to try to evolve the current system & players to build a more effective game plan or we risk losing more fans to boredom. We have a decent manager IMO and quite a few decent players but it's not producing anything other than good possession and passing stats (of which 90% go backwards or sideways). Wouldn't it be great to see our wide players actually trying to beat a full back, a few passes over the top into space for the strikers to chase, even a few shots from outside the box - None of this seems to be programmed into the current team so they either aren't capable or the coaching team see no value in this approach? Something needs to change or we will walk sideways and backwards towards League One with an ever shrinking fan base. |
| Forum Reply | Long haul holiday ideas at 21:39 8 Jan 2019
I can recommend a great 3 week long haul holiday which me and the wife took a few years back... Kenya (6 day) safari tour of Masai Mara, Ambroselli and lake Nakuru Fly to Dubai (3 nights), recommend the Jumeirah Beach for luxury and relaxation Maldives (7 night break) cant remember which island we stayed at but it was amazing. That's just over a couple of weeks of wildlife, luxury and relaxation for about £8k. Best time to go is late December / January. |

I live locally in Sutton Coldfield so would recommend getting off the M5 using the M6 south exit, leave M6 J7 (stay left off the M5 in slip lane) and take the A34 first exit down towards Birmingham, there aee a few pubs on the A34 Just a few miles away from the ground as you drive in. The Bartons Arms is a good one for some food and a pint. there are bars at Star City that are away friendly and you can leave yiur car there also. |
| Forum Reply | Mascot prices -£480!...Really!? at 14:05 3 Jan 2019
I actually paid for my son to be a mascot for the recent Wigan game (there were 5 mascots on the package in total that game) so wanted to add to this debate. Whilst the cost is not cheap at all I wanted to give my 9 year old boy the opportunity to experience things in more detail, hence paying the price. I must say the whole experience was a very good one with them arriving 2 and a half hours before kick off to meet the teams out on the pitch, following this they had a skills session on the pitch and were then taken all around the pitch as well as sitting in the managers seat for a bit. In addition to this they also got a full kit, were fed pre match and at half time and also got to meet LT10 and Leon Britton. My son also got to meet his favourite player (Celina) and walk out with him before taking his half time penalty and also meeting Mike VDH post match...…...In summary when you deduct the actual cost of the 4 tickets, meals, free parking, kits, pictures and medal (got personalised medal with match details on) the actual 'mascot experience' cost £200 which I don't feel is bad value at all. Whilst this is being positioned as a rip off it actually isn't and has been tailored to wind people up. Alongside the mascots SCFC also provide local kids teams with a free flagbearers experience with full access to the lounge and food but nothing gets said about this so it needs saying for balance. Finally the team that provides the match day experience were excellent including the players themselves so full credit to them for providing a memorable occasion, again this gets missed by the negative soundbite but should not be ignored. I for one was extremely happy with the once in a lifetime experience my son enjoyed recently and would fully recommend it to anyone.....just wanted to add another view to this debate as people are diving in without understanding the full story. |
