Not only can I confirm on a trip away from monacliffe to watch a Dale match he indeed did eat a meat and potato pie washed down with Bovril! And even worse having had the privilege to spend time with the great man in Oldham hosipital I was allowed to give home some Cadbury’s Chocolate buttons -his face was a picture. Today I have lost a true friend God Bless you Cloughie aka Couponman
Earlier this evening after great confusion throughout the day it was announced that David Clough-Superfan-Cloughie and whatever else you call him had been granted release from Oldham infirmary. He is now available at his home address for any visit by well wishers. Unless things change he has to return for further tests mid next week. Up the Dale and up Cloughie again next week !!!!!!!
Through this post I would like to pass on my heart felt thanks for all your messages and words regarding my recent retirement - your support has made me an emotional wreck!
Thanks to all Directors and all associated with the Dale for my recent day to remember - the pinnacle of my career.
Do wonder if the people who matter at the club did know what had gone on - I have my doubts.
And a question to our directors - As most who know couponman his eyesight is not the best hence him sitting on the halfway line to gain views of both goals - Now if as he is an OAP he could only afford to join me in the cheap seats of Sandy would he be due a 50% reduction in the entrance fee as he could only see half of the game !
Latest news from Littleborough indicates a return of his season ticket along with an invitation to be a guest of the Directors at our next home match - I now hope the Directors take this opportunity to thank coupnman in the way he deserved in the first place by retiring the seat of Superfan along with him by making him a life member of the club he has loved and worked for over many years. I would also suggest a round of applause is asked for to allow all his fellow supporters to pass on their thanks for all his efforts.
