"Still, if you play players like Field, Varane, Dunne, and Smyth in the same team, as needs must, then it's not surprising. It's just a bit depressing."
Wow!
Unbelievably harsh to call out those 4 players who are currently playing very well, 3 of whom have been contributing to our goals tally of late.
But especially Dunne??!!! WTF???
Also, when was the last time you enjoyed watching QPR? Let me guess...
2011.
Early 90's.
Early 80's
1976.
Bet that was it? Unless you're old enough to remember 66-68 ?
I seem to recall reading something a couple of years ago that he'd done whilst at the club and Ian Stewart had to leave because of it? Or Barron stitched up Stewart in some way?
I can't remember the exact details unfortunately, but it tarnished my memories of him from '86 as a result.
Christ I've just looked him up.... he's 71!!!!!!!!
I think if Dunne had any sort of spell out with injury (like you I felt he'd dislocated his shoulder, or had a recurrence of his injury at the start of last season), I think he would undoubtadly be the biggest loss to the team. He's currently our most influential player, who's having a massive impact/effect on games at both ends of the pitch.
He'd be a bigger loss to the team than Nardi would imo.
So Chairs contract is up at the end of this season? I don't know why but I had it in my head that it was until 2026 (plus the one year extension option). I'm probably wrong though.
Regarding the 1 year extension for Chair, doesn't that only happen at the end of the contract? Or can that be "activated" at any time during the contract?
Exactly the same as last season. About 10 teams still in the mix currently... including us.
In February last season, a Brum "friend" in a whatsapp group we're in said "who are you tracking lads" (as in "what team" are we chasing down to get to safety?!). They were relatively comfortable in mid-table at the time.
Look what happend to us and them by May! Things can change...quickly! And whilst I'm quietly confident we'll be ok, it's waaaaaaaay too early for anyone to assume that we're safe already!
