I think this is the problem that Resolven mentioned earlier.
The Sesame Street thing is/was a child development programme for kids on warzones, that shared the Arabic translation for Sesame but was nothing to do with the TV programme.
Trump also mentioned something about transgender mice, that was actually cancer treatment research.
It obviously wasn't perfect but he's talking bollox. |

I understand your point, but manifestos are all we have. If people don't read them and vote it's their fault not the politicians. That was the chance for the petition signatories to act, they missed the boat. They have nobody to blame but themselves
Labour made both the expansion and 20 mph speed limits manifesto points, both were picked up and reported as highlights in the media. They won the election and implemented them, they can't really be criticised for that. Having referendums for each point before implementation would cost billions and undermine democracy.
I have a similar take to yours on waste. But what is essential to some isn't to others. I benefit from free school meals and prescriptions becasue I live in Wales, I don't need either. I think it's a waste but that provision has been defended on this forum.
From personal experience I've seen how much is provided to some people via benefits, I'm looking forward to seeing what Starmer announces regarding benefit reform. To me, it's a waste, to others it's an entitlement. |

But we can't call it a waste. People had an option to stop it but didn't take it because the vast majority of people either actively voted in favour of it or didn't express an opininon either way.
Manifesto's aren't ideal, but they're all we likely to have. If a political party doesn't deliver on their pledges they can be removed at the next election, if they had to reconsult before they implemented any of their manifesto pledges they would run out of time to get anything done.
People voting in the same way year after year and through generations is a massive problem and is probably why we have a Senedd in the state it's in. Drakeford had to be the least electable politician in recent history especially after his handling of Covid restrictions. I was baffled he was able to form another government. |

Yes.
But the increase was in Labours manifesto and they were elected to deliver it, similar to the 20 mph speed limit. A waste to me but it's what the people wanted. |

And to a certain extent this is my personal problem with national politics infiltrating local politics.
Commenting on Waspi, WHA, trade unions etc is nothing he can change so it shouldn't influence his vote. The bottom line is that he won't support the budget but doesn't seem to want to suggest any alternatives.
I'm guessing my council tax will go up by 5%, I'm not happy about it, but just look at the state of the place we live in. |

He's a local councillor. He's banging on about stuff that he can't change and is way out of his remit. He's making a national political stand in a forum that's about local issues, totally wasting his time as an elected local official.
I'm not a fan of national politics infiltrating local councils at all, I think all councillors should be independent.
The major issue though is that the country is skint and services are already on their knees. It has to be paid for. |

I checked. It's not the party with most members, it's whoever is nominated and gets the most votes from Senedd members. Technically the first minister could be from any party, obviously that won't be the case because other parties won't vote for them.
The vote is going to be so split between parties next year we're going to have a rainbow coalition. It'll be everyone v Reform / Tories, unless the Tories do unexpectedly well. |

They'd also need electable candidates living in Wales. I doubt they have many. The English ones are bad enough.
There's a core vote for the other parties who will turn out. I'm not sure Reform will get enough actual votes. We'd need the biggest turnout in Senedd election history to see that I think. |
