You'd be amazed just how much financial data is shared these days. There are data organisations who can tell you exactly what you earn and how you spend your money each month and what your net worth is.
If you create any large gaps then the Tax man will know, it's frightening stuff |

The plan seems to be to raise taxes like IHT and Capital Gains and maybe on Non-Doms etc. whilst changing the rules to borrow more.
There a realistic risk here, if the tax income does not increase as planned, the very rich can work their way around these increases, and if growth is slow then the cost of borrowing increases as bond rates will go up as confidence is lost in the money markets and we will have a slow burn Liz Truss effect.
With all that is happening in the World having some gold makes a lot of sense right now. |

Drove to Gatwick, got caught in traffic, arrived about 2am and had tea and biscuits for dinner. Flew to Dubrovnik as part of the old Yugoslavia in 1990, inflation was crazy; blackboards used to indicate prices everywhere and updated twice daily
Everyone seemed to be preparing for war, checkpoints everywhere.
Drove to the Plitvice National Park, got stopped and searched four times each way including an interrogation at what is now the Bosnia border. The guy at the car hire office in Dubrovnik could not believe we had driven across to Plitvice, he was dumbstruck. |

The reporting in some outlets is laughable, they don't even try to conceal their bias.
They seem to omit the killing of homosexuals, throwing political opponents off high buildings and burying alleged traitors alive when recounting Sinwar's life. [Post edited 18 Oct 13:15]

I think Starmer is getting hoisted by his own petard, he spent hours and hours in Parliament asserting that Tory ineptitude was to blame, inferring that things would improve on his watch because they could not get any worse.
Binning the Rwanda scheme without replacing it and saying he would empty the hotels has rather backfired. Opposition is easy and governing is difficult. |

He's talking about things that happened 14,000 years ago where the evidence is anecdotal at best, the Israelites and Philistines appear contemporary on the balance of probability. Anyone talking in certainty about what happened 14,000 years ago is obviously making it up. |
