Half decent tv
at 07:33 2 Mar 2025

I keep hearing this and trying to get in to it, but S1 is pretty slow going and the other half has no patience for it. Defo worth persevering with?

Frey's an easy guy to like, and he took his penalty really well. But the past two games his hold up play has looked really poor. In fact their second goal originates from Frey losing a ball in to him after a heavy touch. It's definitely an area we're struggling with at the moment.

Beatles..your favourite track..

I bet that was ace, and can imagine it fitting their set perfectly, I've always said TNK sounds like a chemical brothers track. Far and away my favourite Beatles tune, although I think of it more as a George Martin tune tbf

Intrigued by The Monkey, I loved Longlegs and read the short story as a kid and it made an impression on me. But everything I've heard about it sounds at odds with my memory of the story and the tone of Longlegs

Film 2025

One for Disco maybe, All The Right Movies podcast are doing Blue Velvet this week.

I dip in and out of ATRM but whenever I listen I remember how good the hosts are, and want to go and immediately watch the film they're discussing.

Watched Alien Romulus on a flight last week, basically agreed with all the comments on here. Good fun, if you like Alien and Aliens it's an entertaining watch without doing anything especially interesting. Avoids the ponderous world building of the other sequels/ prequels

Also watched Speak No Evil. Stressful, but better than I expected. James McAvoy having a great time chewing the scenery to bits. He plays sinister well. You know where the films going pretty much before you watch it, but kept me entertained

Cheers Clive, very informative as always. I thought Steve's comments on the nuances of (and the case for) playing the loans during the remainder of the season interesting.

Great film soundtracks
at 04:06 27 Feb 2025

Always enjoy the soundtracks to Christopher Nolan films, which are nearly all by Hans Zimmer.

Also a fan of the less celebrated soundtrack to his first film Memento, by David Julyan.

I also love this music from the trailer of Interstellar which is actually not by Zimmer and although used for the trailer I'm not sure actually made it into the film, but could be wrong

Was a bit moist of eye stood in upper loft before the last game of the season when we'd just learned that there was no points deduction.

Gaffer on today's defeat
at 04:32 24 Feb 2025

I agree with Clive in the match report in that I think we have to be realistic that Martì got this one wrong . We haven't really worked out how to set up away from home yet. Being generous you could say that he felt emboldened to try to play the way he wants us to play regardless of who we're playing or where, but our midfield couldn't cope with it. I agree with Hoopsa in that it looked a game for Morgan to come back in, Field and Varane didn't offer enough options for the defense under the press, and lacked the dynamism to get us up the pitch. He's a great coach and we're lucky to have him, but he's still fairly new to the league and will get things wrong from time to time

On the game, looked to me like Martì went with a surprisingly attacking line up, essentially how we set up at home. Suffice to say it didn't work. We couldn't handle the high press and midfield didn't get going at all. The back four looked really rattled, especially in the second half. Long balls over the top of midfield just came straight back. Frey couldn't get a hold of anything, not helped by the referee who seemed to give everything to Portsmouth.

Periods of the second half were very hard to watch, we looked like we didn't want to be on the pitch. A particular low point was Pompey supporters singing "duh duh duh duh, fùcking awful" at us to the tune of pig bag 🤢.

And yet we actually pulled a goal back and might even have nicked an equaliser.

Have to say, the away end concourse was a nightmare. Far too small for the crowd. And the away end was pretty aggy at kickoff where I was at the back of P block. Two fights about three feet either side of me. Saw someone trying to carry their crying boy out in the crush. Pretty bleak, although things calmed down a bit after quarter of an hour or so.

How good a chance was Dunne's chance right at the end? It doesn't feature in the sky highlights. It looked a good opportunity from the away end, people around me agreed it looked as though any where but at the keeper and it was in? But it was down the far end and not had chance to see it again.

My first game in ages (courtesy of Mr G Haddock, thank sir), really looking forward to it but think it'll be a tough game. Pompey friend reckons the crowd there have got them a lot of results, an early goal for us would be lovely

I've been using variations of the same password for about 30 years, all going back to when I was asked to create a password at some shitty office job I was doing. Passwords would have been less of a thing then, and all I could think of was the bong id bought the day before and named __________. So I used that, and it's stuck ever since. Funny thing is I used a variation of it for my kids' tablet, so now they also use the name of 16 year me's bong for a password.

It's quite the legacy mate. Was there another platform LFW was on briefly, other than this and Rivals? I could have sworn there was a brief stint on pro boards ?
