I’m clearly not suggesting that am I? I think it was all w@nk. |

Utter nonsense. If Labour were in power during Covid, the country would be even more fvcked now. I don’t think Starmer could believe how un-Tory like Boris and Rishi were at throwing money at the masses on furlough etc, but he still took the stance that it wasn’t enough. I dread to think what the “black hole” would look like with that bellend dishing the freebies out. The fallout from the covid nonsense is the cause of the mess we’re in now, so raising income tax is exactly what should be done, so everyone shares the burden on the recovery. No Government has the nuts to do that though, so they choose to go after softer and more strategic targets, meaning once again, businesses get bummed. |

Yep, but it’s not before time businesses pay more back into the system apparently . Where’s the money going to come from? Wages; ie redundancies most likely. |

You clearly don’t have a clue about the pressures small businesses are already under or what tax they’re getting rinsed for. |
| Forum Reply | Has our defence got weaker or is Ramsdale just not that good? at 10:45 8 Oct 2024
We concede so many goals because our defence/midfield are constantly gifting the ball to the opposition. This is due to Russell's "being brave" philosophy of taking suicidal risks in the wrong areas of the pitch. Loads of people were fawning over how great we played at Arsenal, but 2 of the goals we conceded were complete gifts from Downes and Sugawara. That's not playing well imo and sums up perfectly why we concede so many and keep getting beat. One of the only positives and improvements in our defence this season is we don't have McCarthy/Bazunu passing to the centre forward anymore and we have a keeper that actually makes some very good saves. Cringe central last night. Rusty did his usual attention seeking strut across the pitch towards our fans before kick off, to be greeted with choruses of that "woke up this morning feeling fine etc etc...." ditty. He lapped it up as did the mongs singing it, as they do with any manager that acknowledges their existence. A wave and a fist pump here and there equates to being a great guy. |

The club will sort it out by sanctioning a drummer soon. |

I think it's inevitable he will be as the FA want to show all the money they've pumped into St Georges Park is justified. It's all about having that pathway and promoting from within, which I personally don't think is a bad thing. |

This new trend of buying tickets for games you don’t want to go to or even worse have no intention of going to just to get your priority up is proper weird. |
| Forum Reply | Away Ticket Allocation at 12:40 10 Sep 2024
Yes, something's definitely changed as I got on the minute Bournemouth tickets were released on the site and it seemed around half of them were already unavailable to purchase. I'm used to seeing a central block held back for family/friends etc, but never like this time round. Similar for Newcastle; was on as soon as they were released but the choice was really limited (I like an aisle) with so many already unavailable. Knowing it wouldn't sell out straight away I waited for a day or two until the additional blocks were released and could get what I wanted. |

We lost 4 in a row towards the start of last season, including a 5-0 capitulation at Sunderland followed by a 4-1 home demolition by Leicester. Many fans were wetting themselves and crying for his head then, much like they are now, some even suggesting we were in danger of getting relegated. I've been going to Saints games for nearly 40 years and can count on one hand how many seasons we've had that can be deemed successful. We're never going to get anywhere if fans want every manager we get sacked all the time because they think they know best. We've had around 20 managers in the last 20 years ffs which is a massive contributing factor why we end up stuck with so many players the next man doesn't want, plus endless managerial compensation payouts. |
| Forum Reply | !!!!!!!!!! Russell Martin out !!!!!!!!!!! at 12:28 2 Sep 2024
How many managers in the last 20 years have we had that a large proportion of fans haven't wanted sacked at one point or another? I can only think of Adkins and Koeman, which suggests that unrealistic expectations are more of an issue. Even though the constant fannying around with it at the back is ridiculously stupid, to want the bloke that got us promoted the season before sacked, after just 3 games, is bonkers. We were always going to struggle this season, no matter who is in charge. |

If you ignore the amount of middle aged blokes there were squeezed into those hideous pink kits, the rest of the ground looked like it was full of theatre goers. No-one stood, no-one sang, it appeared completely dead. No matter how hideous it was in the abomination that is the Wall, I think it’ll be a case of sucking it up and dealing with it...for this season at least. |

Spot on. I like to talk about these issues and get differing opinions, but it's very hard to in today's world without instantly getting a label stuck on you or having to debate with someone who thinks they're morally superior. [Post edited 2 Aug 15:12]
