I think it's worth trying some kind of environmental exposure technique: 3 months living on a rough council estate, lifting weights in the morning and delivering slabs of meat across London for the rest of the day.
If he agrees to and completes that he should return for pre-season and they can reassess.
The way I look at that is, when we had Kyle Walker on loan, there's no way you would have played Bradley Orr ahead of him.
Different stage of his career to Liam I know, and I do think Morrison could be a great player for us. So I do accept the development aspect.
But Orr was a decent player, whereas Walker was just farcically above Championship level. Edwards verged on looking like that last night at times I thought.
Thought that too - looked like he got told to cover the gap between the defenders and not get sucked into chasing them - something like that anyway.
Agree with all of the OP though - thought Kolli might have been a better choice to link things up - and I don't see him lacking in pace or physicality really.
Agree about Colback making a difference when he came on - he has a lot of nous about him when he's in the right frame of mind - found space in tight situations. He was also pretty open in his post match about still getting back to fitness. I could see them trying to keep him for another year if he's looking strong by the end of the season.
If true I'd say fair enough in terms of how the club is acting.
400k is worth pushing back on at least once with Sheff Utd, and I wouldn't go beyond a 3 year deal with Jimmy.
Getting into those longer term deals has been a bad idea for quite some time for us, and we even have a new example in the shape of Madsen.
I can understand Jimmy wants more certainty, but 3 years (or even another 2 before decision time) isn't bad in modern football. Would be a shame if he walks away from that in the end.
Staggering numbers, and goes back to the reason why we lumbered ourselves with a one legged Park Ji Sung in the first place, who was in turn also mentioned by Yang (hopefully for the last time).
It obviously doesn't work at all when Far East market exposure is the only reason to bring in a player, but at a time when the club are looking to sponsor most things that are nailed down you'd think the Nourry-bots will be paying attention, and hopefully doing something clever with the opportunity.
He seems like a bit of a 'punt' - hopefully I'm still spelling that right in a year or two.
Looks seriously dynamic in that highlights vid and will need all of Marti and Xavi's skills. Am guessing they both have some Portuguese or they wouldn't even be trying shirley?
Precocious talent, drop of the shoulder, the nutmeg, jiggery pokery, abracadbra I want to reach out and grab you, diamond formation, free expression of football - uncategorisable!
As much as Jimmy would undoubtedly be missed, and we certainly can't turn down 2m at this point, I'd throw in a bit of speculation that I don't think Marti really wants to play with that sort of big physical converted CB at RB.
It's been working great as part of the more pragmatic style, but he bought Santos to play in a certain, more mobile way, and then Ashby, and he's backing Ashby through a difficult period. Jimmy has been great but Marti might be quite keen to use the money to try again rather than commit to a new contract for Dunne - either by fixing Ashby and keeping him, or finding someone else.
