Hypothetical question to aid Cardiff in going down 22:23 - Dec 7 with 5035 viewsDarran

We go into the last game of the season in 10th place 4 points away from 11th and 4 points away from 9th.

We need to beat Sunderland for Cardiff to stay up.

Would you be happy if we lost?
(I didn't say throw the game)

Its a big yes from me.

Although I'd like to see Cardiff go down as much as the next Swans fan, I'd never want the Swans to lose a match. If us beating Sunderland kept Cardiff up, I'd still want us to win.

Nah, boIIocks. Getting them relegated by losing one meaningless game would be a no brainer. Can't believe anyone would think otherwise. We could lose 10-0 and be dancing on the terraces.

All this talk of scoring and then letting Sunderland score to mess up their goal difference reminds me of when Preston kept them out of the playoff finals by one goal scored. I'm sure this has already happened to them before, although not directly attributed to us.

We were playing Preston and I remember Tate scoring a belter for 4-0 at home and he was still pretty much celebrating when he got burned down the wing and Preston pulled one back for 4-1.

If we need to not win the magical centre half partnership of Monk and Tatey could make a surprise revival. God bless Tatey.

I'd even cheer the Sunderland goal(s).

I'd rather it be a case of Cardiff being 3 points behind Sunderland going into last game of season, and Sunderland have a vastly superior goal difference. Cardiff need us to win 6-0.

We get to 6-0, control the game until the 92nd minute when we inexplicably concede a penalty. Up steps Danny Graham, sent back early by Hull, to score his first goal of the season.

Obviously Tate concedes it ....

I'd be extremely unhappy if we lost. I'd also expect us to pick our strongest side and play the best that we can. It's about having respectfor the spirit of the game (and watching them being forced to say thank you. Being rescued by the Swans would become part of their history and we'd never let them forget it, would we.)

I wouldn't be happy if we lost, but if it assisted in them going down then I would chuckle.

Wasn't it a few seasons ago where we lost in the last game to Blackpool (I think) and the whole ground was cheering at the end because Cardiff had missed out on the playoffs.

Taking of history, i wonder which team has the opportunity to be the first Welsh team to do the double over their little cousins?

TBH Scoobs we'd gladly give you that if it meant us staying in the PL for years and you lot never getting there again. Then again, we seem to be improving by the game whilst your boys are getting worse so the result is in no way the foregone conclusion you expect it to be

And by the way you lot celebrated beating us in November rammed home who the bigger club is now. And here's a clue - it's not Cardiff

If this situation came about id want Britton in goals and Dyer in defence.

This. People giving it the big one on here about being happy to watch us lose but when push comes to shove how the hell can you be happy for your team to lose? Ridiculous. My love of the Swans far outweighs my dislike of those irrelevant muppets.

This shouldn't really be funny but it just is. Can you imagine the look on Poyet's face as ickle Leon comes out with the keeper's top hanging down by his knees. Or Dyer trying to mark Altidore and Fletcher??

So if you do that and still get relegated reading between the lines of what you said you will class that as success?

The stand-out candidate for goalkeeper has to be Sunderland fan and Cardiff-hater the legendary Mr Alan Tate.

Not really Phil, i just thought it might be a good come back that's all.

Our ambition this season is to finish 17th or higher, i understand why you lot want us to finish lower, that's what rivalry and banter is all about.
