Gazza 22:51 - Feb 12 with 7846 views | BrazilNutR | thought this might be an interesting debate.. what are peoples feelings. I'm in a split mind when i read that players and the FA are clubbing togethor 40k to help him... I was always a big Gazza fan, and don't like to see that he's back drinking, and in hospital. But, its not the first time, and part of me feels that maybe this 40k could be spent helping a much larger number of people who actually stand a chance of reaping the rewards. Its a sad predicament, and ideally we should preserve our stars of old, as they encourage new stars etc... but... discuss

Gazza on 22:57 - Feb 14 with 1400 views | Lblock | To those thickos who say "fck him" and call him a "sponge cnt" that's your opinions and you're entitled to them. I can but wish no small addiction upon yourselves and certainly hope that is combined with mental issues. For me Gazza will always be a hero. My favourite year ever in my life was 1990 and his tears at Italia 90 embody and enhance those memories. To see him drunk, speedballing and rambling is a tradegy. Yes he's done a lot wrong in his life... no excuse for hitting his Mrs (but then that'll be the ladies who refuse to drop the Gasgoine in their names even though long since divorced)... we're all flawed in one way or another. C'mon Gazza beat your way back like you used to beat people for fun on the pitch with a drop of the shoulder, a shimy, a bit of pace and not least strength. GAZZA 19 x

The theory that alcoholism is a birth feature is nothing new and I think heredity is part of the problem.I think what is more pertinent is Gazza is a born footballer and the realisation that that talent and joy is taken away may be tragically too much to bear. There is no therapy for the ravages of time.

Gazza on 13:09 - Feb 15 with 1340 views | QPunkR | He's earned even in his lifetime to have had a 'spare' $40k put aside. Obviously he was playing before the really seriously insane money came in but Christ people, money from footballers should be going to a) players who can/want to be saved and b) as someone said above, younger players who haven't had their chance to earn stupid amounts of money yet at a lower level who sustain career-destroying injuries.
