I don't think Bothroyd did anything significantly better or worse than anybody else out there on the pitch, but some of the abuse he took from those around me was absolutely disgusting, including a racial slur. I've never been more mortified, but then, some of those people abused just about every player for every touch they took, however good or bad it was.
I'm really saddened by this at the minute, we're a family and say we all love the club, but if that was true, you wouldn't go around abusing your own in that way. You wouldn't do it to your own family and I'm thoroughly ashamed of some of the people I'm coming across at the moment and am embarrassed they are fans of the club. |  | | |

I'd give MOM to Ferdinand because he was the only player who looked a class above
Bothroyd just doesn't suit the linking role that he sees himself in and seems to be part of what slows us down going forward. Eg in the 2nd half he needed to play it through to Smith quickly on the break, but again he turned and let all the MK players flood back into position.

Like him or loath him the fact is Bothroyd was brought into the club to score goals. As was DJ.
The lack of goals is whats kiiling us and its why we are in the bottom three. Since Nov 1st, if we had scored just 1 goal - or just 1 more goal - in each match we would have had 7 draws in stead of 7 losses and 2 wins instaed on 2 draws. thats another 13 points and would put us 8th.
JB has failed big time. He is just like Derry, Hill and a few others. They are 100% not Premiership quality. Sure good Championship players but no way Jose are they good enough in the top division.
And all this talk of lack of confidence. Hey he's supposed to be a professional!
The team would be better off without him and he would be better off without us. Back to the Championship for Jay I'm afraid.
We need players that can score goals on a regular basis. Forget the talk of strengthening the midfield and defence. If we dont get some great goal scoring talent in the next 2 weeks we are screwed, no matter how good our defence or midfield becomes

That happened a few times, but it was because the team were tired and unable to provide the right support. Sometimes the striker was isolated and didn't have much choice other than to reset the ball and entice his own teammates forward.
We've been slow out of the blocks for a while now, it's something that can be worked on and improved, but generally the defence and midfield unit are not clearing their lines fast enough as the play moves up the pitch.
Bothroyd is never going to be a pacy player who runs in behind, and well, when you see the likes of Wright-Phillips not even willing to take on his man that tells you everything really. There's a player tailor made for it in Wright-Phillips, but instead, we're having a go at Bothroyd for not being that player, or Jamie Mackie for just wildly rampaging in any direction with little care for possession of the ball and when that happens, it's just random pot luck whether he succeeds or not.
I think Tommy Smith looks really leggy at the moment and has done for most of the season. He needs more time on the pitch, but he's not going to provide the answer at his current levels either. Catch 22 and all that. | | | |

A tired laboured performance last night. We had the look of a struggling Championship outfit, rather than a Premier league team, but that said we won thanks largely to Franchise's poor finishing.
Bothroyd MOM? No. Was ok but he really must learn to be more decisive infront of goal.
I thought Ferdinand was our best player. Looked solid in defence.
Nice to see Gabs score after so long.
Macheda was a waste of space.
We really rode our luck at times, but let's hope we can step up from this now on. |  |

Young much better than hill.
Macheda looked much more up for it than Bothroyd. Whilst Bothroyd had a decent game he just slows the pace down to a crawl.
MOTM for me was SWP, if only he could get his first goal. He was non-stop and ina variety of positions - summed up by our corner towards the end - he crossed it and they broke out at pace. He tore back, overtook Orr and was in the mix defending.

Bothroyd looked more of a forward midfielder for me yesterday he needs to get in the box more.
Our lot love abusing tall lumps though. Crouch,Santos,Nygaard,Jay. Admittedly the previous 3 looked a bit more interested but Jay made more of an effort last night and won a header or two. |  |

Tis true - it seemed every time we were attacking fast on the break or whatever and the ball to Jay, he would then slow it down and pass it back to safety.
He does win a lot of first headers though when the ball is hoofed up. |  |

Bothroyd was MOM for me also. His game is to drop deep and bring others into play, and also put pressure on the oppositions CM, creating a midfield 5 when we are out of possession, and Macheda staying up top. Jay always wanted the ball, and got in a couple of good positions. I think DJ needs a run in the team off a target man, as I think he has a lot to offer.
The Jay Boo Boys need to grow up, and support the team. Booing our players is counter productive, and frankly disgraceful behavior from our so called supporters.
Anyway, despite a poor performance, we kept a clean sheet, and won at home, and finally got a monkey off our backs. We are already looking more organised, and with Joey back, and Alex allegedly signed, I look forward to a good performance against Wigan. Lets support our team, as we have an extremely difficult time ahead.

Gabbidon had been placed in the same scenario earlier but allowed them to take it the whole way into our box where their boy shot with the outside of his foot away from goal. Crazy option by him.
Hill was cack as was gabbidon bar the goal. Macheda was useless. SWP was itvs mom. Never in my opinion. I couldn't believe he couldn't skin that ginger old fellow at left back for them and then he missed the one on one. Badly needs a goal does swp.
Buzz was ok as was derry but both way off the pace of the two lads in the middle for them.
JB was fine. One lovely pass with the outside of his foot. Some good hold up play but buzz and derry are too slow to support play.
Paddy was anonymous. Young was ok.

Amongst a team of GASH, he was CAPTAIN GASH.
Slow, lazy and with little ability. Everytime the ball came to him any momentum was immediately extinguished, as he wanted time to control it, time to maneuver himself then more time to pick a pass (that was usually misplaced).
You only need to look at some of the crisp passing we were doing early in the season, and the sort of play that the likes of Norwich and Swansea are finding easy to master, and its frightening how bad we've become. We played better than this last year, and for most of last night you couldnt really tell which team was Premiership and which was League One.
Fahkin awful, and embarassing. And frankly anyone that feels Bothroyd contributed in any way, is on drugs.
