Footballers and fast cars on 00:36 - Dec 9 by Robbie | Ferraris nice to look at , Lambos and Mustangs are an eye catcher too . Do I want one , not a chance even if I had the money to buy a status symbol . Footballers and Cars will be a theme never ending , even Footballers Wives and WAGs are now a thing of the past . Coleen v Reebekah Court case was an example of the world some celebs exist in . Never followed The Hammers games much , see how The big Pole in the goal is doing . Await the Police Report on the incident . |
Have had two track days with Ferrari ,Subaru Impreza and AM . Ferraris drive terrific but not a practical car in anyway They look great though and that’s important ,too important. Deadly so .

something along the lines of- 2 "slippery roads" roads caused both of his accidents. And I'll keep my prayers for someone who deserves them (not that praying works mind). Not word perfect but along those lines.

Anyone having a Ferrari ,capable of 208 mph as a car of choice for London needs head examining It’s like pony treking with Devon Orchid . I’ve seen fellas riding Ducati 995 s when they’d struggled with a tricycle Big wallets ,small brains Tip of the day When driving through a forest ,expect a wild animal to run across your path |
I was riding a motorbike on a straight just outside Glasbury . There was a dip in the road . Suddenly a pheasant flew vertically upwards .. I knew I was going to hit it . I carried on straight braced myself and headed it into the side of the road . 1.nil back of the net . The Swans would have been proud.

Ste. Had loads of banter with a former Supt chum of mine and his Fat Boy. I had a smooth as silk Blackbird at the time and I told him I’d never ride a Harley ,like his was offered for me to ride, as I valued my many fillings I didn’t and still don’t get them. To me m they are quite ludicrous machines No Harley rider would be seen dead without H D clothing andfew rode them over 55mph as they would get a migraine . They do look impressive parked up though at car parks like the Ponderosa

Good thing about them is they are easy to work on if you can handle a spanner .Overhead valve push rod engine , points ignition . Simple.

My mate got two Harley's he's in a Harley club as well, he's offered to let me have a jaunt on either of them and I've politely said thanks but no thanks, another friend has got a sportster he's left the sports bikes behind. I sold my Tracer 9 in 2019 and always thought I'd have another, MT10 until BM brought out the s1000r naked bike, but I'm 64 next month and I spend all week on the roads with work, sometimes driving an hr half to do a job, so last thing I want to do is hit the roads again on a weekend, I'd rather go fishing for the day, plus the roads are proper dangerous these days, people on phones, lack of curtesy and selfishness, not want you want when having a jaunt on two wheels, I'm to old now anyway. You are never too old Max . One of life's great pleasures is a spin out into open countryside on a warm summer day . A car moves your body a bike moves your soul but you knew that anyway. One of the drawbacks of living on this Sceptered isle is that Summers are too short . and the opportunities to ride also limited by poor weather . I often wonder how a nation such as ours with the short seasons and inclement weather has produced the finest bikes on the planet . Marques like Norton, BSA ,Triumph, Ariel ,Sunbeam ,AJS, Vincent, Brough Superior, Rudge , Matchless etc. were born solely from the engineering gene and not from the urge to get sunburnt in the saddle.

I'm not a rider but been on the back a few times, my bro in law had a Honda 1200 super sport, a Duc 996, a BMW K 1500 and a Repsol amongst others. At one point he had 4 motorbikes but then 2 got stolen, whike he was at home. They would have taken all 4 if not disyurbed. Anyway, he was a berk, bloody dangerous and if he was trying to scare me he managed it. A few weeks later he came off up the Brecon, ended up in Merthyr hospital and was lucky to be alive.

It's a steep learning curve when you first start riding . The first 6 - 12 months are critical because you are new and learning " on the job " . It's a bit like being a spitfire pilot in the battle of Britain I suppose . Young pilots were often asked How many hours on Spitfires? The more hours the more likely you were to survive. If I could give one piece of advice to a novice rider it would be watch out at junctions . Junctions are where a lot of rta's happen . Iam speaking from personal experience here as well I got knocked off twice at junctions by drivers not paying attention . Your brother in law sounds as if he was trying to impress you with his skills but had the opposite effect. As they say - accidents are nature's way of telling you to slow down.

He didn't impress me, no. I thought he was a dick and told him so. I've stuck to cars ever since and in my younger days I own up to being a dick in the fastest cars I had. I never had an accident but how I don't know, I learned before I hurt anybody though.

Bikes are not for the reckless. A good friend of mine one of the engineering mangers over Sinter plant and a very good rider did a track day with him at Llandow and he was very good, he went out for a ride down and around Llandovery with his usual group and had just had some lunch in the West End cafe, rode away heading towards Brecon and as he entered a bend an uninsured clown came belting into the bend from the other direction failed to negotiate the bend and clipped Wayne sending him flying into an edge was airlifted to hospital in a hell of a mess, he recovered but it left him with a limp he's not been on a bike since, spoke to him back in summer and he's done with them, luckily two of his mates caught up with the clown and made a citizen arrest he wasn't insured and he had borrowed the bike not sure he even had a license, not sure what happened to him hopefully had the book chucked at him.

The country lanes down west, mid west and those areas above Carmarthen and Brecon, Builth, Newtown etc, far to many concealed entrances and exit's are particularly hazardous. I was driving up that way in my van and as I came round a bend and descended down a bit of a slope in the road I saw a tractor and another vehicle coming down towards a concealed exit and out he came and If I had been on the blade I had at the time I wouldn't have seen him, I did my motorcycling advance rider certificate yrs ago well worth doing you learn loads about reading the roads negotiating bends etc and I've done various Bike safe days, you learn loads and its an enjoyable day, Kev Garner used to be the lead instructor, Police motorcyclist, top man he was, don't think he instructs anymore since he retired from the force.

Out in all weathers, to be and advanced rider you got to go out in all but the very worst of weathers, not easy to make money in motorcycle training. [Post edited 14 Dec 10:02]
