Archer transfer in possible breach of FIFA rules! 17:58 - Aug 18 with 1990 views | LondonSaint76 | OK, here we go, it appears that the Cameron Archer transfer may breach a FIFA rule on ‘bridge transfers’ that being where a player is purchased by a club and then sold again inside a 16 week period, therefore making it impossible for a player to come into and go out of the same club in the same transfer window when transferred on both occasions, not loaned (does not affect loan deals). In this instance Villa had a contractual obligation to buy Archer back as Sheffield United were relegated so this is a double transfer in about the space of seven weeks or thereabouts. FIFA rules state 16 weeks minimum. Could possibly get interesting as this is not a breach of PL rules but is a breach of FIFA rules, but, FIFA rules trump FA / PL rules hands down. It all depends if the FIFA disciplinary panel have got their blinkers on when dealing with this or will listen to a reasoned argument primarily from Villa I would think. See the article below. https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/cameron-archer-ast

It sounds like both clubs will still have to pay a fine for participating in an illegal transfer and with it being FIFA, it could be a big one. Hopefully, we can still send him back and use the remaining money to buy a proper centre forward. Haji Wright or Ayoub El Kaabi would be more likely to score goals than Archer. Not sure that we will get implicated, it is down to the selling club in this case Villa, to make sure their end of the deal is legit, we would not know the details of what they had with Sheffield~united etc

Where are you getting that from? “No club or player shall be involved in a bridge transfer.” Is what I have found from the article reporting this, nothing about the selling team. Presumably Saints did enough due diligence to know that Archer had already been transferred in this window. Hopefully our lawyers know enough to have put an indemnity in the contract with AV for beach of the rules for any fine!
Archer transfer in possible breach of FIFA rules! on 12:04 - Aug 19 with 954 views | Ifonly | I'm not a legal expert, but I do know that if something is public knowledge, you are expected to know it and ignorance is no excuse. In this case, Archer's transfer history is public knowledge and FIFA can be expected to take the view that we sought to benefit from an illegal transfer (as did Archer himself). As saintsfanbrock says, the outcome is likely to hinge on how good our legal team are and what clauses were put in the deal. Hopefully the legal team are more switched on than our medical team.
