FFP result with finances out. 07:34 - Feb 20 with 19282 viewsPhilothesuperhoop

So does this mean that we’ve just snuck under the allowable FFP losses? Does anyone have the financial results and the ability to interpret them. I.e. know what losses can be deducted from the totals?

Simon Dorset has analysed the accounts in the past so hopefully he'll give us an overview soon. If the £39m P&S figure is right, I think we're right on the edge of what's allowable and so safe.

Wasn’t it £4m loss 2021?

Total over 3 years of £49m less allowables.

That sounds too tight for comfort and alarming for next year.

If I recall, next year will be fine as the promotion push overspend (Austin, Johansen, etc) under Warbs will roll out of the calculation.

We *should* be over the worst of it now tbf.
Next set of accounts will likely show more losses, but basically that we chucked everything overboard and the losses should come down from £20m to something not resembling a trainwreck.

That decision not to sell a couple of players in Summer 2022 is looking like an all timer from QPR. Willock, Chair, Dickie, Dieng all would've comfortably fetched close to £10m and massively, massively eased the pain

Staff numbers 171 in 2021, 191 in 2022 and 189 in 2023. Not exactly a business that’s watching its cost base!

Based on his analysis last year, haven’t we breached? Correction, I think we may be ok.

You are right the next set of accounts are the difficult one. But the good news (sort of) is that the we are actually living that difficult year right now

The accounts published today are for June 22 to May 23.

So yes, the following set of accounts are our most difficult one, but those are for the season we are in right now, being June 23-May 24

The headline figures today look scary but assuming once allowable costs, mainly centred around training ground are factored in we are fine.

Then next summer we will have at least £20m of headroom, although we would want to manage that more sensibly this time

The messaging and communication from the club is that we are working to meet P&S so I am assuming for now we have met it.

Think the club need to issue a statement pronto otherwise belief a points deduction is incoming will grow

So without casting any aspersions and not having a clue myself, are any other clubs casting a worrying eye at their own figures? Do they all come out at the same time?

Agree, looks like we are ok regards FFP for this season, which is a relief.

Not so sure we’ve got £20m headroom in 23/24 accounts unless I’m reading it wrong.

For FFP, season 21/22 shows loss of £19m, season 22/23 can only guess at but on previous it looks like we can discount about £5m from the £20m loss (that is a guess). But that means a two year combined FFP loss of around £34m which means we mustn’t lose more than £5m for FFP purposes, or about £10m overall in this years accounts 23/24.

It’s possible the club are getting nearer that figure as they seem to have been a bit more proactive on that front, let’s hope so.

We need an Eze sell on plus an agreement forced on the Premier League for EFL funding pretty damn quick!

Hard to say without all breakdowns but at least next season (if we stay up) the tv deal goes up. I doubt we'll spend it but it will help lower losses.

Based on your figure there 21/22 of £19m which I believe is the right one:

21/22 £19m loss
22/23 (todays accounts)£15m (we think- need clarification on extent of allowable costs)
23/24 the season we are in now we are assuming allowed to lose £5m

So that means when we go in to this summers spending (if we stay up).

22/23 £15m loss
23/24 £5m loss
24/25 £19m loss is maximum allowable

So that £19m would mean £14m of extra losses allowed next season compared to this current seasons anticipated £5m loss

Agree on Eze, also this summer Chair fee is likely and as mentioned a new tv deal with more money. So while the losses could be an extra £14m we might have an even budget still on top of that. So more much more hope for next year if we stay up

Well, you can certainly see why it's tight this season!

Oh for the glory days of summer when I was told we'd have £10m+ to spend because we reduced costs so much last season and have had all the additional extras from Palace for Eze.

Well Millwall had 155 in their last set of accounts. But it’s also more that if you are close to the FFP line, you’ve got to reduce cost. Biggest cost is people and to reduce people by 2 doesn’t seem like much of a cost reduction.

So average wage flat from 2020 to 2023. Again, doesn’t strike me of a business that’s reducing cost.

It appears to me Clive, that Simon & yourself were correct that we needed to reduce losses by circa £10m this season, but it might be that £12m is closer! Surprise, Surprise!

I get the impression that the club feels that this will be achieved, but I've no idea how! It would be clearer for us if we could see the projected accounts for this season that have to be lodged with the EFL.

I'm also assuming , until told otherewise, that any costs on developing the Training Ground, would be included in the loss but would be deductable against FFP? Although they be in work in progress?

The £10m figure actually came from Beale in a supporter meeting. He said there was a £10m+ shortfall that the club needed to find in 18 months time. I know he's full of sht but the figures are all there and it adds up.

Yeh it's going to be super tight, but that they felt able to do a little bit of business at the end of January presumably means they think they're ok.

Some money for Dieng and Dickie.
5 loans with all their associated fees and wages out, and we haven't loaned anybody this season until Hayden and Hodge who we're seemingly not paying for.
Amos, Balogun, Bonne, Dickie, Dieng, Dozzell, Johansen (top earner), Lowe, Martin all off last year's wage bill. Ferdinand.

Yeah they've definitely chucked stuff overboard. Shodipo and Niko gone as well.
Fox, Cook, Begovic, Colback, Smyth you'd imagine aren't coming close to what was jettisoned in the summer wages wise.

We made a bit by "selling naming rights/sponsorships" also, albeit waking up to that route a bit late. But it helps.
