Sir Tony Blair on 11:04 - Jan 1 with 4440 views | Berber | Apart from his brain fart moment regarding the Axis of Evil where he got swept along with the crazy Americans, I thought he did a fairly decent job given his stated objectives. Of course, tax and spend governments always end up in the same place, out of money and unloved by all. Education, education, education. Well, the education industry always want more, and like most public sectors ion the UK, increased funding ends up as big wage increases and not much else changes, reference the current ongoing university lecturer whinging for more pay and better pensions and job security. The ferkwits. The Blair/Brown years did more to "level up" than any other administration in the past 50 years. Of course, the creation of all those gay/race/gender posts along with uncontrolled recruitment in the public sector formed a large part of that fuller employment brief. Whether you agree with the approach or not (I did not and do not) I cannot understand the venom directed at him from the liberal and left leaning establishment. Given that his administration did more than anyone to create a culture for the metropolitan crowd to advance, you might expect logical thinkers to have a better balanced appreciation. This isn't intended as a slight on anyone posting here.

I never warmed to Blair. To me he came across as a slimy individual as an MP so when he became the PM I just zoned out. The impression I got was that he was just a watered down Tory. Throw in the Iraqi war and I was more than happy to see the back of him. Unfortunately he split the Labour Party and both Corbyn and Starmer have had to spend too much time dealing with the internal divisions rather than putting all of their energy into being an effective opposition party. Having said that I would rather have him back than Johnson. Now the penny is dropping for more people perhaps the Tory hierarchy will boot him out as an electoral liability. With signs that the LibDems might work with Labour to contest a certain amount of Tory seats hopefully the tide is beginning to change.

We can thank Blair for the rise of ISIS. He has a lot of blood on his hands. For all those that didn’t want brexit, well he allowed the flood of cheap European labour into the country. Making the man a sir Is disgusting

The British people should have been given a vote on it, yes or no to become part of that illegal war. If that had happened, (as we all know) the UK would never have been involved. As we see on a regular basis, politicians on all sides are guaranteed to make bad decisions that fly in the face of the opinions of the British people. Regarding Blair - I know a guy who worked in Iraq for the Saddam government on various 'projects', mostly military who told me that at no time did Saddam have access to 'weapons of mass destruction' as referred to and lied about by Blair. That lie alone, and never mind the murder of Dr David Kelly make the decision to knight this evil liar just unbelievable. The man should be in court, not given our highest honour. At least Gordon Brown saved us from the Euro, which Blair was also pushing hard to implement.

Correct. His involvement made the people of this country an ISIS target. While taxpayers funded his twenty four hour hour bodyguard protection, and probably still do. It's an insult to us that this piece of shit has been given a knighthood.
