European super league on 17:55 - Apr 20 with 2006 views | PinnerPaul | Interesting odds from Paddy Power The 6 teams NOT to play in ESL before 2025 = 5/6 but same price TO play in the ESL before then. The big 6 NOT to play on the PL next season is 4/1 but Leicester to win it is only 12/1 Man Utd and Man City NOT to play in the CL next season is 13/5. [Post edited 20 Apr 2021 17:57]

Unless I'm reading that wrong, the ruling doesn't prevent player bans or club expulsions? It simply stops FIFA and UEFA from blocking the launch of the ESL. As it stands, all six clubs are in breach of the terms of their membership of the Prem if they have entered into a binding agreement to take part in ESL. [Post edited 20 Apr 2021 18:08]

European super league on 18:04 - Apr 20 with 1959 views | TGRRRSSS | The type of people - the man in China with a INter Milan shirt etc are not proper football fans, and I guarantee he'll have moved onto the next thing he's interested in within the next few months before this even starts. Beisdes hjow much money will they be prepared to buy whatever TV package this is? It will be all dodgy streams etc. If some of the clubs got anything like the money linked to their "fans" around the world following them on Twitter or INstagram they really would be the biggest companies in the world. IN real workd terms, the biggest companies some of w3hom you've probably never heard of m,ake sums that are well beyond anything any football team combined has been able to manage. If this falls down, which is already starting to look likely then Barcelona and Real Madrid esepcally in the shite. Barcelona have billions of debt apparently, and the demands are starting to come in, Messi wants to leave - but he's 34 now (or will be this year) and doubt anyone will pay what they want, Madrid always been bankrolled by Spanish government who I assume have bigger worries just now with COvid. So JP Morgan are bank rolling it, well they certainly will demand first dibs oin profits going forward and Carlos Kickball on 2trillion per week will not be first in the line for payment then.

European super league on 18:15 - Apr 20 with 1927 views | TGRRRSSS | Alan Sugar as I remember it. The point being under rules in football the players must be paid first regardles, bet this won't be the case. So a court in MADRID blocks something eh??? Well I never.

Does a Spanish court have jurisdiction in the UK and hence the FA/FL/EPL?

No. They cannot stop the Premier League taking action in relation to the Premier League Rules. The PLR is an English law contract. Quite what jurisdiction the Spanish Court has got at all is open to debate. FIFA is a Swiss company and the FIFA Statutes are made under Swiss law. Also, under Art. 59(2) of the FIFA Statutes, recourse to the civil courts for participants is prohibited. I suppose an argument is that the ESL is not a FIFA organisation and therefore there is nothing that FIFA can do to stop it being created. That also suggests that ESL is created under Spanish law.

It's hard to believe the renegade clubs won't have considered those possibilities. They have lawyers coming out of their ears, who will have pored over precedent and consequences for all parties. They must surely know that this will be in court(s) for a very long time but it's very much a calculated risk they're willing to take. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

IF the ESL is not affiliated to FIFA (through a national FA or UEFA) then anybody that plays, officiates or administers in it would be banned sine die from any affiliated club or competition. This would be the same as happened in Columbia circa 1950, as reported in this thread a few pages ago.

European super league on 18:58 - Apr 20 with 1757 views | TacticalR | 'Twelve football clubs that have signed a binding agreement to form a new European "Super League" have been guaranteed a "welcome bonus" worth €200m-€300m each, according to people with direct knowledge of a deal that stands to reshape the world’s biggest sport.' 'The money to launch the league will be provided by JPMorgan Chase, which has committed to underwriting a €3.25bn "infrastructure grant" that will be shared among the clubs as a "welcome bonus" on joining the competition. The US investment bank has provided a debt financing deal amortised over 23 years and secured against future broadcasting rights for the competition, said people with knowledge of the terms.' 'The rebel clubs have agreed to pay €264m a year to pay down the debt, a figure that includes a 2-3 per cent interest rate. JPMorgan declined to comment.' 'Anas Laghrari, a banker at Spanish advisory firm Key Capital, has been named general secretary of the Super League.' 'The Super League’s organisers have held early discussions with broadcasters about the competition, according to people familiar with the talks, seeking to secure deals with the likes of Amazon, Facebook, Disney and Comcast-owned Sky that would raise annual revenues worth €4bn a year. This is roughly double the amount the Champions League earns.' Super League clubs net €200m-€300m "welcome bonus" (behind FT paywall) https://www.ft.com/content/f00bb232-a150-4f7d-b26a-e1b62cd175c3
