In the interests of truth and accuracy 66% of the British public support the government. Once again the left are shown to be all mouth and are not representative of public opinion. I think this needs pointing out as they are currently in overdrive trying to sow division and lower morale in the NHS.

So long as you are ok that’s all right then? So much for being in this together. Your attitude is precisely why Tories get a bad name. I also notice that Boris is happy to call out workshy, lazy teachers but leaves a brown nosed, benefit grabbing fellow Tory apologist like you alone. I haven’t taken a penny from the government and I have not booed teachers but you carry on making out you have the moral high ground. I trust that you will donate much of your unearned £5k to local food banks?
I thought you were a manager at the CPS and a manager at the Guardian? I bet most people wouldn’t mind being a few quid behind you. You’re just a bitter miserable old man with nothing better to do than spend your cushy retirement moaning all the time.

you need to accept it
Boris is PM. he effectively retired Jeremy Corbyn. They have an 80 seat majority. Brexit has happened.
Where have I said that there is a mass movement to Labour? What is it with you blinkered Tory supporters that you cannot help yourselves but make things up to support your agendas?

A month in Starmers Labour are 20% behind the Tories and you think he looks like someone who can dislodge the Tories. You’re a strange man soggy.

He has only been in the job a few weeks and at the time he took over,Labour we unelectable. He is supposed to turn it around overnight? And you call me strange. By the way, how is that solidly behind the government thread title working for you now?

unelectable? I thought they won in 2017 and at least won the argument in 2019?
but now, they were unelectable?
Starmer will have to answer for his Brexit position and his achievements prosecuting people (or not)
The British public solidly behind the government on 12:48 - May 24 by Sadoldgit
That is what you are the right wing media kept telling us.
Starmer is not the only one responsible for Labour’s Brexit policy and we were told from the doorstep that Labour lost votes because of Corbyn.
Regarding prosecutions, you need to learn how the CPS works before you start pointing fingers.
he will have to answer for it. Regardless
There will be a relentless media campaign to make it the news of the day in due course, we all know it, you wont like it (but like it when it is against the torys).

its how it works in the media!
I believe he already has. I’m not sure why it should bother Tory voters.
As for media attacks on the left, they have been going on for years so nothing new there. It goes with the territory.

It does not bother me but at some point (like it was with Corbyn) Stamer and non prosecution of high profile people/cases will be front page news for sustained periods.
whether people know the inner workings of the CPS is no really relevant. headlines work right?
With recent developments this is only going to go down more rapidly, as more people start to see through people’s party all in this together guff.
We heard all that in the lead up to Boris resoundingly crushing Corbyn. If you want to believe it then fine, carry on believing it. The bottom line is that Britain is a property owning private sector democracy. We are a nation of natural Tory voters. To vote for a left wing cult, which is what Momentum/Labour is, is to vote to self harm. It’s not going to happen.

Since the war it's something like 30 years labour vs.45 Conservative. So there's something in what you say. But, no party has managed to hold on to power for more than 13 years consecutively which maybe suggests we are a nation of natural pragmatists (if we're being generous) or a nation of natural whingers (never happy with the establishment, time for a change). Will be very interesting to see if the tory's can buck the trend at the next election. History suggests they won't.

Blair won by moving Labour to the centre right. Once Margaret Thatcher sold off a large number of council houses it completely changed the vote forever. A left wing Labour Party can never win again in this country. Socialism is a dead. It amazes me how many left wing dinosaurs still cling to the past and continue to flog a dead horse. When Momentum took over the Labour Party and pushed it to the extreme far left it was a gift to the Tories and it makes the next Tory election win inevitable. They can put Keir Starmer in as a puppet, but the public aren’t daft and they can see that Corbynism still courses through the blood of Labour.

Yep - we are a nation of moderates.
Since 97 it's 13 vs. 10 in favour of labour (albeit a moderate labour).
Suggests we are social democrats at heart (not SDP as a party but middle ground, status quo).
Like i said, will be interesting to see if the conservatives can buck the trend and hold on to power or if the red wall which swung to conservative last time out will collectively shrug their shoulders and say 'nah, don't like this, what else is on offer' the next time a GE comes round.

Define “Corbynism”. Many political commentators say that there is no such thing.
As for being a nation of moderates, we certainly are. It is a crying shame that the Liberal Democrat’s can’t get their act together. For years now that should have been hoovering up votes but Clegg dropped an almighty clanger in letting Cameron into no 10 and they have lost the plot ever since. I think that Starmer will appeal to many lapsed LibDems like myself and Johnson has already probably lost a lot of the votes that he conned by his Get Brexit Done stance. Ideally I would like to see a Labour/LibDem colalition. Hopefully the Tories will keep Johnson and Cummings in post. At the rate they are losing support they will not get re-elected.

You really are deluded. The Tories are 20 points ahead in the polls.

That Dominic Cummings must be a genius. The voters obviously love all of the Cummings and goings and can identify with a man who wears tracksuit bottoms to work.
It's not 20 points but the Conservatives really are gaining in popularity:
Let's be honest: whether we're left wing, right wing or slap bang in the middle, we've now got what the British electorate voted for - a bloke in tracksuit bottoms running the country - and aren't we just loving it?
I honestly believe we are seeing the next brexit battle
Brexit has happened but many still want a softer end to the transition period than what Boris and his inner circle want. Reports suggest that plans were being drawn up to extend the transition period and said plans were binned when Boris and Cummings came back to work.
The media have been desperate for an angle to sink their teeth into from the beginning. They have one and it will be relentless over the next few days, regardless of what the truth is.
I followed Cummings on twitter (it was an account with inside info that strangely went dormant yesterday) and what we are seeing now was predicted at the beginning of the month by him and another person!
So I think Boris (rightly or wrongly) sticking by Cummings is also about the wider political game as opposed to sticking up for a pal.
Will Cummings be in the role this time next week? Just depends on how relentless it gets I spose. However, they have played this hand before and won.

The way I see it there’s very little risk to Boris in keeping Cummings, but a big risk in losing him as he is the brains in the team. Labour will desperately want to keep this story going but it will backfire on them as a sustained attack on Cummings will soon be seen as a sustained on Brexit. And that will just infuriate the Labour voters who voted Tory last time and make them hate Labour all the more. From a strategic point of view Labour are going to overplay this and they are going to end up looking opportunistic at a time of crisis and they will be seen as the same old Corbynites remainer party that despises the working classes.
