Fighting on the Sandy Lane pavement 18:08 - Oct 13 with 26191 views | R17ALE | Did anyone else witness scenes from the 1980's? These weren't giddy teenagers, but Donny fans offering out virtually any Dale fan in sight. From what I could see a few skirmishes broke out which led to four coppers hot-footing it down Willbutts to interject. Sadly, it was partly down to our stewards/safety people/police. For those who don't know, there are 2 exits from the Sandy - one by the Willbutts corner which everybody who lives Norden way uses. Whenever there's a visiting element or larger away following, they refuse to open this exit on the grounds that rival fans could clash outside the ground. In reality the home fans are always gone before the away fans have left the stadium. Today, they wouldn't open it. And so, we all had to turn round and leave at the pub exit and then turn right out of the car park and into the oncoming away fans under the trees just behind the net. I guessed it might kick off, so crossed the road immediately, but many Dale fans seemed to get caught up in the fracas. So avoidable as well.

Fighting on the Sandy Lane pavement on 18:22 - Oct 13 with 16336 views | mexmike | Yep I was caught up in it, full of Donny fans in that ridiculous uniform all the scrotes wear thinking they're on green st hooligans offering anyone in sight out, kids aswell, absolute weirdos the lot of em. That along with some prick driving at speed down sandy lane when the roads full of fans coming out, nearly ran a 10 year old over that was with us, was the same time all them coppers ran towards the sandy entrance. The police during the game didnt seem to do anything when a flare was thrown aswell, just stood there!

Fighting on the Sandy Lane pavement on 19:01 - Oct 13 with 16051 views | ChaffRAFC | The club has an awful lot to answer for today. The decision to close that exit played out exactly as predicted. I stand in that corner of the ground when I've got my lad with me and when the decision was made before the end, I and a few others were getting into a heated discussion with a steward about how they were basically leading us into trouble by doing it. She basically just said they'd been told that's what was happening and that was that. Fortunately, I left the ground and turned left back past the ticket office to get onto Willbutts Lane that way so avoided it but some evidently, didn't get that lucky. The lack of action with regards to the morons at the front of the stand was disgraceful. Four smoke bombs thrown, one practically hit the camera lass in front of us and the smoke blew directly into us meaning we had to cover our kids faces with coats etc. Absolutely nothing done about it. Police didn't even move in until 10 minutes from time. It really irks me to have a go at Police in any way because my old man was a copper for nearly 30 years but their lack of action today was an absolute joke. Why the hell couldn't we just keep the Doncaster fans back 15 minutes when it was blatantly obvious they were out to cause trouble? Absolutely braindead decision by the club, and a dangerous one!

I think that's a tad unfair on the 'club', Shun. I have always enjoyed my visits to the Keepmoat Stadium. The stewards are friendly, the bar off the car park is pleasant and the other people around the club are professional and welcoming. Unfortunately, it's the management, players and fans who let the rest down.

I'm sure someone else better informed will know the ins-and-outs of this, but I believe the Police only get involved inside the stadium when their assistance is called for by the stewards, etc. Apologies if it's changed since I was told that.

If that's the case, and I've no reason to doubt it, then the stewards haven't done their jobs. When smokebombs are being thrown as missiles at the opposition fans and there are two Police officers there watching them do it and don't react, it's highly frustrating. If they didn't get involved because the stewards thought they had the situation under control, they were wrong as it happened four times. Either the Police or the stewards had to take action and nobody did. Then, as R17 says, to basically lead fans into these oncoming idiots was a very stupid and very dangerous decision.

Fighting on the Sandy Lane pavement on 19:29 - Oct 13 with 15877 views | 442Dale | Went to the Trust AGM today and there was rightly some focus on how they can represent fans on all matters. Would fully expect they can play a part on this if they are contacted. Would ask any fans involved who want them to find out what happened and what changes can be made to improve things to contact them as they’ll definitely take it forward. info@daletrust.co.uk

Yes, to be fair, on my visits to the Keepmoat I got the same impression. I’ll reserve my ‘vile’ jab for their manager, team and fans then.

Fighting on the Sandy Lane pavement on 19:40 - Oct 13 with 15778 views | Ancoats_Blue | Had an interesting train ride back home with their mong contingent. Knew it’d be fun when I saw the riot fans at the station. Thoroughly dislikable club.
Fighting on the Sandy Lane pavement on 19:47 - Oct 13 with 15711 views | VespaDale | It was common knowledge earlier in the week that Donny were bringing around 60-80 'lads' & up for it. At the various train stations today it was being reported on Facebook a large mob of Donny were en route. Should be a few doors kicked in at 6am in a few weeks but I won't hold my breath. And I ended up with a long ban for being assaulted in our home end off opposition fans that lasts until 2020. Police go for easy targets...

Their keeper quite openly gesticulated at the Sandy Lane and shouted "F uck off you c unts". Butler (I think )then followed up with "Get fuc ked, f uck off" again whilst giving the hand signals to the Sandy. That followed up the mongs in the away end throwing flares and smoke bombs at the home stand. Absolutely awful team.

Lot of good points on this thread that should be forwarded to the new CEO - via the trust if necessary

Good question. There have been plenty of away games (admittedly in the past) where we as away fans have been kept in. Hopefully the logistics to sort it out will soon be in place.

Fighting on the Sandy Lane pavement on 21:32 - Oct 13 with 15206 views | SandyDrum | Okay so I complained through three channels, I know it sounds petty but I've never seen players so blatantly swear and rile up a home crowd before. I complained directly to both football clubs, using: admin@rochdaleafc.co.uk (I'm sure it will reach the correct people as this seemed to be the general email address) info@clubdoncaster.co.uk (again a general email address but i trust it will reach the correct people) For the FA it was difficult but I had to complain through this link: https://www.resolver.co.uk/companies/the-fa-complaints?territory=Default If anyone can find a better way to contact the FA let me know but i trust it will be resolved by both football clubs

Fighting on the Sandy Lane pavement on 21:34 - Oct 13 with 15195 views | Ninco | There were a group of around 20-30 Doncaster fans walking down Sandy Lane after the match and someone pointed out that they were all wearing the same clothes. Around 4 police officers were walking with them as if they were escorting them to the station, but the police didn't seem to be watching too closely and it looked as though some of the group broke away and became a distance ahead of the police. Those still with the police were giving verbal abuse to Dale fans, but it was nothing more than harmless childish banter. Shortly after, I did see two police vans and a car blue lighting it towards The Cemetery so I don't know if it was the same group of lads. I also heard one of the supervisor stewards telling someone that the police were happy for it to go ahead with just stewards, but if the club wanted police, at a cost to the club, the option was there. I think regarding the smoke bomb issue, the stewards need to use their initiative. If there's one idiot throwing them, is it wise for stewards to go in to around 1000 fans to arrest the one fan? Could that incite the other fans and make matters worse? Most of the stewards are probably only getting about £20 for a game so I don't think it's worth them risking an injury for that.

Good question. Unless we are told otherwise (and this can be made public when the club/Trust respond), there is no apparent reason why central blocks are used in the away stand for followings of up to 1500ish.
