My chiropractor really sorted my back out but a colleague in work used one for his sciatica and he thinks it made it worse. He was recommended CBD oil to control the pain and he says it has worked wonders.
Not exactly the Guardian but an eminent scientist writing an opinion piece therein.
His book exposing quackery is excellent and very well researched. Scientific, you could say...
Interesting article, he’s obviously not too keen on Chiropractors.
I can only speak from my personal experience, I’d had back problems for years and had a variety of treatments which were of no use, somebody recommended the Chiropractice I mentioned and the first visit I made the Chiropractor diagnosed a sacroiliac joint problem. A few simple procedures, one further visit and the matter was sorted. It cost me a few quid but I would have gladly paid a lot more.
Ever since my son was... never conceived, because I've never had consensual sex without money involved... I've always kind of looked at you as... a thing, that I could live next to... in accordance with state laws.
You have to accept it for what it is, which is pain relief, it’s not a cure for anything. Same as acupuncture and many other therapies.
The ‘cure’ which will eventually bring pain relief will be a combination of fixing longstanding issues, bad habits, etc will generally come from getting fitter, building strength by doing weights and stuff like that. A chiropractor could help you on your way but it won’t cure you. You may need a good course of anti-inflammatories and eat less processesed food.
‘……. like a moth to Itchy’s flame ……’
Try walk in physio in Morriston or Singleton first (8:30am - 10am). No appointment or referral needed and no cost to you (other than time). Physio proven to help with such problems too

They can only give you a diagnosis and a few exercises to do as they only see you for a few minutes and offer no follow up treatment unless you wait for months

The exercises are the treatment in almost all cases, I’ve recently seen the physio for my Achilles and the treatment is pretty much entirely exercise based - further follow up is a waste of my time as it will not add/change anything. When there is more going on then the physio will spot this and direct you accordingly. I’m a GP and have several letters a week from physio’s who have spotted something that would only be picked up with their specialist knowledge/skills. They occasionally recommend specialist scans when indicated and this can, in turn, speed up any diagnosis or potential referral process.

I tried acupuncture once, it did relieve the problem but yes, the problem came back. It depends on the problem I guess but if wear and tear through work is causing an issue you might end up putting up or shutting up. If you resort to medication though be very careful, I was prescribed Tramadol for my severe pain and whilst it worked short term the extra problems it caused are really not worth it. Insomnia, mood swings, stomach problems and worse still, addiction. The specialist even suspects it may have contributed to my Liver problems because I wasn't much overweight and hardly touch alcohol.
I have been to walk in clinic and I followed the exercise regime religiously but my symptoms have worsened to the extent that I have to lie in bed. Walking and standing is agony.

What a load of nonsense. What if you have scar tissue, exercise won't help that. Exercise does help in strengthening the other muscles, but some muscles need stimulation, and that's where physios come in
