When will it ever stop? Yes there may have been some dissenting voices, as there are on here, but yet again there was as much support as you can expect tonight. Fans certainly didn’t appear overly critical during the game.

Edit: full clip in other thread. The problem here is how Dale supporters are going to be viewed in the media, Radio Manchester are obviously all over it. It’ll be the Ob next. Not necessary after a heavy defeat.

he Was on post match press duties, as part of his job. No place for expressing personal gripes. Out of 3000 Home fans about 20 people upset him, aww bless

But bringing the club into disrepute?

That's a sackable offence.

As for personal gripes, yes he has every right to challenge behaviour if he feels it will adversely affect his players or his decision making re injured keepers is wrongly challenged. That's whether it's 1, 21 or 3001 fans.

In my opinion.

Poll: What is it to be then?

On the sacrifices claim, could it be after the 2016-17 season, other clubs were taking an interest in Hill and it was turning one of those down he classed as a sacrifice? Wild speculation I know

I'd imagine on this front he's referring to non football stuff

All this nonsense has put a massive dampener on things for me.

Coming into our third home game of a new & exciting season and I’ve never felt more disillusioned with things after this week.

Something needs to be done or said by the manager to try and bring everyone together. The fact there is never a nod of apology or “I overreacted and appreciate the fans and everything they do” makes everything feel really awkward for me.

It’s kind of like when your have a row with the missus and no one wants to back down so it just drags on & on.

My problem is this rift seems to be getting bigger & bigger, when in all honesty it could be put to bed very easily.

The entire situation was completely unnecessary.

It’s easy as individuals to ignore Hill’s interviews if we so wish. The issue I have is with his comments being picked up by the media and this song damages the reputation of the club and its supporters.

I had colleagues, for example, forwarding the BBC article to me on Wednesday, with the smirking addendum about the manager hating the fans etc.

I’m sure Hill, the board and the supporters would rather Rochdale’s reputation be based on something other than having a “fan-hating manager”.

It’s a shame because Hill has done too much good for the club to be undoing it with nonsense like this.

No we don't, but actually, it's really #notthatimportant

The person damaged by this is Keith Hill. As Fitz aptly described it, he'll come across in the media as a "fan-hating manager" since the vast majority of football fans are realistic enough to understand how fan's reactions naturally follow events on the pitch. That's something he needs to accept, for his own good

I was generalising, not specifically about these comments. If there was a #teamrochdale, the agreed way the club addresses the fans directly and in the media would have been established a long time ago.

That’s what I meant by accepting it’s when it suits.

But it's that lack of culture with the club that allows the manager to get away with it

The unacceptable shouldn't be accepted, but I know what you mean - perhaps "accepted" isn't the right word? Can be mistaken for "acquiesce"

In another rewording: I’m resigned to it.

That might reflect badly on me, but it reflects worse on others. Not that they probably care.

And yet his pre-Walsall interview is an example of how Hill can be frank, open and realistic, without being aggressive or condescending. These interviews really should be made available to all supporters rather than monetised.

Yes, "resigned" is pretty apt, although should the manager ever admit that fans reactions occur in real time during the course of a game - and trying to change that would be like trying to catch a fart in a bottle - the inevitable strapline on here would be:

"Hill's Resigned"
