Saw my first away game the same season when i went to Anfield for a 4th rd FA cup tie which we lost 3-0. [Post edited 23 Apr 2018 21:47]

Really exciting winger with loads of pace, and scored goals. He had to retire at a young age when he was badly injured when he crashed his car into a skip on Neath Road, Hafod in 1978

Yes lightening quick trying to remember who else was in that side. Steve Potter in goals not the best keeper we ever had. Pat Lally Wyndam Evans. Was Garry Moore up front or was he a bit later.

So then, out of interest-What year did you all start supporting the Swans? on 22:14 - Apr 23 with 2077 views | FieryJack | Must admit I have no idea what my first game was. Who we played or what the score was. It would have been 1979/80 though. One early game I do remember was a midweek night game against Luton Town, and for some reason I decided to go into the Luton end. At that time the terrace in the bottom half of the double decker was divided by a high fence with Swans fans on one side and away fans on the other. At some point the Swansea fans on the other side of the fence started singing "We're in your end again, We're in your end.." to the tune of "Those were the days" by Mary Hopkin. Almost immediately a heavily built Luton fan standing behind me in a creaky-squeaky leather jacket threw a haymaker into the side of the face of someone he (correctly as it turned out) took to be a Swansea fan. The police escorted out about a dozen Swansea boys and merely told the Luton fan to calm down. Remember thinking some of these people are right weirdos - travelling 200 miles on a wet murky November night to see a game which had no importance (no relegation or promotion issues) to either side. Half these Luton lot looked like the kind of people who sell local newspapers on the streets. I wondered how they could afford to attend away games.

That was a good season to start going great attacking side. Robbie James Alan Curtis Alan Waddle. Then chuck in the Liverpool reserves of Toshack Ian Callaghan England world cup winner Tommy Smith and Geoff Crudgeington in goal. The entertainers a Spurs win in the cup promotion and a cult song. Not a bad season at all.

The smell of pi$$ all over the tarmac behind the north bank. The pasties which were so hot they burnt your mouth. The old girls in the shop. The noise from the double decker of everyone stamping their feet on the wooden floor when we scored. Etc etc

So then, out of interest-What year did you all start supporting the Swans? on 23:08 - Apr 23 with 2018 views | ploppy | First game, 1966 (Jan or Feb) v Watford at home (4-2 maybe), one and only time in the centre stand - very young. Second game was the cup tie v Arsenal (1968?). I would have been too small to see otherwise so stood on the metal cross-bar thing (there's probably a technical term for it) at the back of the North Bank. It felt quite high but was only about 3 or 4 ft off the ground I think. I vaguely remember kicking the corrugated sheets to make a din just like everyone else. Didn't start going regularly until the 70s. I remember seeing Curtis when he first broke into the first team. He played a few games towards the end of the season, and I thought he was awful. I don't know what he did over the summer but the following season he was beating defenders for fun.

Had just passed 11plus and a gang of us used to go the the Vetch . After the war there were several players from N. Ireland MacCrory, Feeney Lockhart were a few. Also saw Trevor Ford, Roy Paul and a few others (cant remember their names). I remember us playing Man City, Spurs also Newport. The old 2nd Div was a tough one. I believe Roy Paul went to BogataSouth America being one of the first British players to do so.Still Have my season ticket for next season whatever Div we are in.
