The Trust put up a thread on their Communications inviting comments. I posted 4/5 days ago saying the Members only facebook group wasnt a good thing/too insular/the Trust lacking in any social media prescence on twitter/ need to get the Trust message (whatever it is...) out there far better etc.
Expected some response, comments...nothing...on the Communications thread...I'd laugh at the irony if it wasn't serious.
If there's ever a re-vote, based on the fb group, sadly, I expect nothing other than the Members to vote to remain in with the Yanks.

Why don't some of those who put themselves forwards for election, get elected, actually do something? Especially those who sit on one of the Trust sub-groups (volunteer to do so), set up to deal with a specific issue (in this case Comms) actually communicate? How novel would that be eh. | |

Why would they use Facebook when they have their own website ?
They could have a forum on that page, either open to all or restricted to members if they so wished ?
Seems to me like instead of using a tool the majority of members can access, they are going for a tool that less people acces.

A private facebook group is for people with the same opinions as the Trusts senior officers, they don't want people on it that are likely to rock the boat, a closed shop if you like, its obvious.

My point still stands;
If this is the main vehicle the Trust are choosing to communicate with their membership, why aren't prospective members told prior to joining that they will also need to be a member of facebook?
It's quite amazing as the gent who has pushed this came on here to list the things he has done since joining the Trust and was given the seal of approval by the majority on here. He choose to ignore the above point when it was politely made at the time.
This situation is completely avoidable. However they have chosen to move in this direction. I'd like some members of the board to explain why. | |
