One night only.... 20:39 - Jan 29 with 12220 views | Swanjaxs | If you could spend a night in a pub/club that's been long closed down where would you spend it? For me it's got to be Shades, queue outside for ages, pay to get in, getting mullerd on Hazy Dayz (jack sullivan's version of Hooch), trying your hardest to pull the best looking trout, coming out smelling like an ashtray, kebab in the Kingsway diner, Taxi home (hopefully +1) .... time machine anyone 😎 Honorary mentions Garibaldi Quadrant Gate The Prince of Wales The No 10

Anyone remember Top Rank 50/50 night, 50p to get in and 50p a pint .............. carnage. Bottles of Decoda and Mad Dog 20/20. Cans of Red Stripe. Feck I hate getting old.
One night only.... on 01:43 - Jan 31 with 1461 views | Ebo | Ok not Swansea but I'd love one more night in the Carpenters Arms Aberdare. A real star wars bar full of characters with it's very own herb errr I mean beer garden out the back. Brilliant jukebox too, was better when it played 45 vinyls and had just about every genre you could think of. Not a place to act the c*nt though.

The top rank gigs were classics I'm told. At times I yearn to be older, if only by three years or so.

Never a big fan of the BH, too many Crusties for my liking. I did see a band there that made me start promoting gigs though, the wonderful HDQ.

The Clash, Jam, Stranglers, Adverts, Buzzcocks, Saints, X Ray Spex, Damned, Generation x and more, that was just in 77/78...having to wait hours sometimes to get in, as I was blatantly under age...great days...

I was there. Group of us used to go and take it in turns to drive when drinking and driving was not that frowned upon. Also miss Barons and the Cardiff Arms for music, The Bush and The Kings for pre club drinks. Much much further afield I miss The Lemon Tree and Trader Jacks in Blackpool and the The Lyver in Dumfries. The latter has only been shut about 3 years. Feel sorry for the kids today. nightlife is cr@p.

I got chucked out of Marthas in the mid 90s for dancing on the tables. Ended up kicking off with the bouncers. I was covered in blood and my shirt was ripped. I was all for going home, but ended up getting in Dora's no problem

One night only.... on 23:57 - Feb 3 with 1514 views | JACKMANANDBOY | The Dug Out is often talked about as one of Bristol’s all-time greats: a club that encouraged a whole new culture to develop that would go on to define Bristol to many across the globe. Situated on Park Row, it hosted performances from world renowned DJs, alongside resident selectors The Wild Bunch — who eventually become Massive Attack after the club’s closure in 1986. One of my lucky venues.

One night only.... on 05:56 - Feb 4 with 1448 views | VetchitBack | Threads such as these I think tend to bring out a sort of false nostalgia (is nostalgia false by definition?). We tend to remember an idealised version of either our youth or someone else's that wasn't necessarily true. I remember The Inbetweeners being praised for the inverse: conveying the awkwardness, insecurity and largely unsuccessful youth many of us actually had.

I disagree. ... start off in the Quadrant Gate, then on to the Garibaldi, Then the Harry Griffiths Bar before and after the game, back to the Garri then after a few more random stop offs it would be Shades. ... call it false nostalgia if you want but I'd give my right arm to do that all again 👠[Post edited 4 Feb 2017 12:48]
