Should be a good fit. Light blue touch paper and retire to a safe place.

No flies on Sean Dyche, got what he needed from him and waved him on his way before the ego could land in the league he's not good enough to play in again.

The idea of him not setting foot in the top tier after getting kicked about in a league he feels is beneath him for 46 games brings me a lot of joy.

The only shame of it is that he still inhabits the same island I do.

First league old firm games for a few years. Great news for Celtic fans as they will probably be playing 10 men.

Says in the article that Barton was offered a further 12 months but that he turned it down.

1 - Given the money Burnley are about to come into, I'm sure if they were that desperate to keep their player of the year it wouldn't have been a problem.

2 - Interesting that after talking about how happy he was at Burnley, what a wonderful group they were, how he'd never played for anybody better than Dyche, and that he'd moved for money before and would never do so again, that Barton has turned down a contract and left for more money and four games a year against Ross County.

Reminds me of Leeds signing Vinnie Jones to get promotion to the top flight and then immediately signing McAllister to replace him.

Isn't Glasgow rangers owned or associated with Mike Ashley? Its hards to keep track with the goings on up there but given how things ended at Newcastle I can only assume Ashley has pulled out? Side note - what is up with their fans saying welcome to the most successful club in the world? I assume they realise it's a two team league over there?

I'd forgotten about the Ashley factor.

According to this article Ashley owns 9% of Glasgow Rangers (less than 10% ownership of another club is allowed under Football League rules):

Mike Ashley could be forced to sell his Rangers shares if Newcastle are relegated to the Football League
http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/mike-ashley-could-forc

It seems he also owns the club badge and mascot:

'RANGERS have launched an investigation after it emerged Mike Ashley now owns the club’s famous badges.

The recently installed regime was shocked after documents appeared on social media sites which appear to show that Ashley’s Sports Direct retail empire has taken control of all the club’s intellectual property - including club mascot Broxi Bear.'

....in a shitty little town, that will more than likely be fighting relegation whilst enjoying QPRlength cup runs with no derby game worth mentioning and no chance of European football 12 months later and not just because he wouldn't even be at the club.

Just playing devils advocate...

From the look of things, Barton has not gone to ibrox solely for the money - it's more to be somewhere where he's allowed to spout off. The biggest fish in a small pond will suit his ego just fine.

I could actually imagine Warburton getting fed up with him fairly quickly
