Correct. If they are "real" fans who walked out they'll be replaced with the tourists they're trying to discourage?

Too many clubs will shoot that idea down, as they have about capping the away ticket cost. Only way is for fans at every ground to walk out about the same time. A whole weekend where the grounds empty (except for the tourists at Yernited etc) at the 70th minute or so. Hundreds of thousands of empty seats (no our Eastern cousins haven't built another extension ) showing up on tele World wide, may just make the clubs think a little. Although the cash from ticket sales is miniscule compared to the money in sponsorship and TV rights, so the clubs just may not give a fuk about the few million they make in ST sales. Arsenal have the highest ST cost , so if we take £600 ST over say 40,000 fans (fag packet Maths!) say £24 million. Take their sponsorship of over £200 million plus about £120 million TV. £24 million doesn't look so big a number now.

I don't think they lost a 2 goal lead because fans walked out. Being reported that Fenway Sports Group (or whatever they're called) are having a rethink about ticket prices. Pigs at the trough. Owners thinking they can bleed the fans for all they're worth, and then a bit more. Relying on fans being fans and not customers. The naked greed of the Prem is truly disgusting.

You're right, it's just relative. £500 K to about £750 K at most out of £160 million to subsidise the fans But it's all about fleecing the customer, sorry fan, for as much as possible. £50 for a shirt that costs around a fiver to make and distribute. £2 for a crap coffee, because no one can go out and get one. Cups cost about 18p each £30- £40 to watch Aston Villa- just daylight robbery. If a show in the theatre was that bad, people would be leaving in droves demanding (and getting) their money back.

Indeed, and they know that we're not like theatre customers or most other product or service users. We are emotionally attached to our football clubs which are a part of the community and that makes us an easy touch to milk as hard as they can. Perhaps we're all mugs who could choose to spend our hard earned elsewhere but it's not that simple.

Simple to say, reality undermines it. When you were in the bottom division, where were the fans who suddenly started going as you climbed the leagues? We went from 2.5k to 25k back to 12k. Nothing whatsoever to do with prices. The numbers of fans emotionally attached to football clubs is very much in the minority these days.
